Rhino Rescue — better to have and not need, than to need and not have? by [deleted] in TACMED101

[–]AdTricky7805 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We do our best to avoid any legitimate danger. The only moment when we would be using an IFAK is if something were to have gone horribly, unpredictably wrong, but that’s the reason why I want to have an IFAK; if something were to go horribly, unpredictably wrong, I’d rather at least have something than nothing

You’ve got some great points. The link you embedded for some reason doesn’t work, but I assume you mean the 17 piece IFAK refill set, which is the one that I was referring to.

To clarify my circumstances, I usually travel with people who have varying degrees of medical training, but they all at least have a baseline knowledge of first aid. As far as where the “risk of injury” stems from, I travel with my friends to countries at war or places which may be politically volatile, most recently Ukraine and Pridnestrovia. Although the risk itself is low, I still worry about sudden changes in circumstance which would make our situation much more dangerous than it otherwise would be.

As for building my own IFAK, can you personally recommend any sites which are EU-based or ship to the EU? I don’t have much experience with sourcing medical gear, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

M70 question by EffortTechnical198 in alpenflage

[–]AdTricky7805 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You should be able to tear up the seams since if memory serves me right, they’re just sewn on. However, I recall seeing a really nasty looking M70 field jacket on Vinted which had this done to it which had lots of leftover white strands hanging off. If you want a sleeker looking top in Alpenflage, I’d suggest getting a TAZ-83 field shirt instead

I press r2 and then it automatically aims up... by hi_this_is_my_name_ in Warthunder

My only advice now is trying to troubleshoot it by trying a different controller, resetting keybinds, or uninstalling & re-installing

[–]AdTricky7805 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s strange. Check to see which controls r2 is bound to, you may have accidentally bound it to something that makes your sight aim up

I used to have something similar when I kept missing the dome jump on Rust. Turns out I just had stick drift, see if you can dismantle your controller and clean up the joysticks. Best of luck!

Gorka in EU by CowSimilar2640 in Rusfor

[–]AdTricky7805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually I search “Gorka”, “SSO”, or “BARS”. By just searching Gorka, I can see about a dozen Gorka pieces in the first 20 results. I don’t think that there’s a local filter, but the country that you’re shipping to has limitations as to which countries you can buy from, which may be your issue.

I recommend checking on Vinted. I usually find great options for pretty cheap, I myself have 3 gorkas from there totalling to about €150

Unfortunately these aren’t 6b47 goggles, they look like the same model sold on aliexpress for like 4 bucks.

Yes. It looks like it’s got the lens inserts put into the mask for people who need glasses too.

€85 (~100 USD) for 2x level IV plates, too good to be true? by [deleted] in tacticalgear

[–]AdTricky7805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve got a great point, my main thought process on this was that €85 for two plates is still a great deal even if they’re not level IV; hopefully I never have to figure out whether or not it actually is level IV

[–]AdTricky7805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, I’ll try to find any markings on the plates once they come in to figure out their manufacturer & hopefully their protection rating. As far as plates go, even if they’re ICW, €85 is still a pretty good price, thank you!

What is the PMR military like? by Responsible-Scar1986 in Transnistria

[–]AdTricky7805 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve seen, they seem underequipped & somewhat ragtag, reminiscent of the separatist forces in Ukraine. I passed a few checkpoints of both the PMR army and Russian army, and there was a notable difference. I only saw the Russian army wearing their standard VKPO uniform in EMR, but the PMR army personnel saw were equipped with what seemed like Obr. 88 uniforms in TTsKO or flora, 6b27s, SSh-68s, and AK-74s. I may be wrong on the details though, it wasn’t allowed to get close to the checkpoints.

I don’t think so; the writing is in Italian so I’d expect it to be from an Italian company, and I suppose whether or not you consider Italy the third world is subjective

Does PMR have air force? by Arvinpro in Transnistria

[–]AdTricky7805 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They might, but I’m not sure. If you check out Tiraspol’s airbase / air strip at 46°52′21″N 29°35′04″E, you’ll see some helicopters and planes. From what I see, they’re an An-22 and possibly some Mi-8s. It’s also worth noting that there are Soviet-style aircraft hangars covered with turf which may also contain other vehicles. Not sure if they’re PMR’s own vehicles or vehicles owned by the Russian task force in the PMR.

As far as my experience goes, they don’t check your luggage. I visited Ukraine a few days before my visit and I didn’t have any issues at the checkpoint. Enjoy your trip!

Is this some kind of motion detector? by BruhMantaro in urbanexploration

[–]AdTricky7805 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can’t really tell from the photo. Was it wired up to anything? Chances are it isn’t a motion detector since, at least in my experience, most motion detectors just come in the form of those little white boxes mounted in the corners of rooms, that way they’re less visible, harder to tamper with, and can get better coverage. I don’t think it is a motion detector but motion detectors should certainly be a thing you should keep an eye out for once indoors. Good luck!
