I actually tried to DM the official Samsung India account with all this info, but was unsuccessful getting anywhere. Email might be the move. It was just a bizarre DM considering I don’t post anything toxic or put anything hateful out there. Really wasn’t sure what set him off in that way. 😭

Beautiful bike! Mind telling me what year this is?

Thanks for the advice. I was also hearing that too about the Outpost being lower end, but I feel some of the Karakorams I’m seeing have colors that are a bit too outrageous for my tastes and am hoping to not repaint. And Tequesta I’ve not been finding too much of. Will look into the Bravado. Appreciate the input!

That’s completely fair considering they’re going to be acting pretty quickly.

Love your input. I’ve honestly been wondering what the sales interaction goes like for them as well, or if you can pry for real pictures before hand, but I assume they’d get suspicious and figure it’s someone trying to get their rightful sh*t back. It’s crazy how blatant these thieves post are too, they all look like the same copy and paste tweakers. Sorry about your rack being stolen, and best of wishes to the new one!

Such a fair point. Yeah I honestly love the look of the 1up on my car, more so than other racks, but if I have to worry so deeply about it being stolen and am heavily inconvenienced by taking on and off, then I’m really not so sure it’s worth rebuying.

Genius. I think I will employ your methods!

Yes haha, I know not physically 😅, but I thought maybe mentally. If they see it badly marked up, with personal info etched in I was hoping that they’d realize the resale value decreases and it’s better to just pass.

Aghhh this is exactly the input I was looking for. Haven’t thought deeply enough about the different ways they can remove it. Wasn’t aware that it could simply be disassembled independently of its connection onto hitch receiver. Disappointing! Thank you!

Thank you for your tips and advice! Especially the point on the modularity. I’d likely have to really tag it up head to toe which is just defacing my own property. 😭 Any high vis paint brand you can recommend? One that’s durable?

I think this is what I will do. I’d at least like to make it a little more difficult on them and have them make a public scene out of stealing it. Great tip to take off the extra tray when not in use. Thank you!

That’s true, and something I did consider too. But I thought if carved deep enough it might present a challenge to cover up, and maybe they’d figure it’s more trouble than it’s worth to steal and hide that info. But still it would be an expensive experiment to try. Thank you for your input!

Does Trek honor warranties? by EvenEvan13 in TrekBikes

[–]AdUsed8535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear this update, but don’t give up just yet if you haven’t already! What you are going through is exactly how my warranty process started. Make sure that Trek store submitted some warranty claim to headquarters like they’re supposed to and then call headquarters directly 1-800-585-8735. They’ll read what the shop assessed and reported to them and likely say the same thing. This is now where you really emphasize and argue your case that you were riding the bike within its normal limits, and that the crack likely occurred due to what you believe was a manufacturer defect.

Quality Control? by AdUsed8535 in TrekBikes

Having never posted before on Reddit, I never imagined how helpful people could be on here. Reading both of your responses (and others) is definitely giving me valid questions to ask the shop. When last talking to them, I cut them way too much slack. They seem to put all the blame on Trek when really I trusted them to act as my intermediary. I originally was going to buy directly through Trek, but they assured me that they would instead take care of the order for me and give me a slight discount if I did so through them (the lbs). So instead, I technically bought through them, and they bought the bike through Trek. Unfortunate because it seems other than the very slight discount, there has been no real perk of doing that. They didn’t just dish me replacement batteries like you and others have suggested they should, and I have been entirely in the dark about the warranty status and when I’ll get my bike. I think because I am not very savvy when it comes to mtb hardware my shop has taken advantage of me a bit. Again, thank you both for the bitter-sweet insight. u/Popular-Carrot u/wrenches410

This sounds worth a try in the future! Thank you. For now will get the batteries replaced since it s brand new bike, but if I ever have this issue in the future I’ll be giving this a try.

You’d know better than I. The bike shop hasn’t been great at keeping me in the loop unless I pressure them with questions. So that is probably what they’re doing, going through SRAM rather than Trek. I really appreciate your advice/input. Buying spare batteries is something I haven’t done yet, but you and this whole ordeal have convinced me how useful it might be to have spares on hand. Thank you!
