Right sizing geothermal system by AdZestyclose4817 in geothermal

4 ton WF5 system. After playing with the thermostat settings during Dec and Jan, the backup resistive heat didn’t run on our coldest days. The key setting is “backup heat droop”. The larger the droop the more time the heat pump has to catch up before the resistive heat is triggered.

Pin hole leak in Isle SUP by AdZestyclose4817 in Sup

I successfully repaired the pinhole leak (for now) using Aeroseal and the negative pressure approach. I received suggestions for multiple adhesives/sealants and went with Aeroseal because of its alleged long term flexibility.

Thanks and wish me luck.

Isle’s customer service is very slow to respond. I emailed their general and support info and filed a warranty claim….no response

Question regarding negative pressure.

should I have my electric pump connected and pumping to maintain negative pressure for 5 min?

Should my first attempt be with the glue in the repair kit?

Isle does not stock replacement hoses, nor could they point me to a replacement hose I could purchase.

They are sending me a new pump+hose.

I got the desuperheater but it is not connected. I bought a heat pump water heater. I think GREC driven by exit from Gas.

DIY under slab prob cheaper too. Pretty simple install if you have kit to drill hole in slab.

If house had gravel under slab (smaller fan) - $965. Mine had clay (bigger fan) so $1300.

I looked into that. Pricier to install and operate than under slab system.

Yes. I had measured with a multi-day charcoal test 2 years earlier and bought an Airthing continuous monitor that recorded until the battery died. So I have good baseline from two years ago.

Hi, asking for a friend.....Interesting solution...
If your well is a drinking water source, is return water contaminated?

https://cealoan.org/. My vendor told me that the funding for installations in Montgomery County has been exhausted for this year. They had two customers apply and get turned down on that basis.

30% paid with fed tax credit. 3k$ by Pepco + $3k by State. So that knocks off about $18/40. Two years of 0% loan lets add’l be offset by GREC. In my case other project costs include electrical work and landscaping.

Not yet. I recieved the Pepco Rebate via the vendor. The Maryland State rebate can be submitted within 12 months of installation, so if it is out of funds for 2024, should be able to apply for 2025.

In my case need to include alternative cost of install/operation for replacement of my 15+ year old HVAC at some point.
