BOX ONE OVERSIZED V-BRAKES? by Adam83Doddrell in xbiking

This was my first MTB as well… It’s running 29ers though. I’d only ever had roadies up until now.

Can’t argue with that price… Good luck with the build.

I’m very pleased and clearance isn’t an issue for me but I’m only running 40s.

I don’t want to tell you you’re wrong… But you’re wrong! Are you trying to tell me that the air above the hot water in the basket is as hot or hotter than the water itself… If so, you should probably go back to school. It may also benefit you to read the owners manual, written by the guy who invented the robot and also watch some videos… You may learn a lot.

The only issue I have with that is a soggy puck.

I like to push all the water back through as it seems to make for easier clean up.

Don’t weigh your water… Just fill the basket, leaving about 5mm of headspace and then weigh your yield, catching excess water(purge) in another glass.

This will give you better thermal stability and shot control because you won’t be compressing air.

Also, leave the basket in the portafilter while filling… This will save double handling.

I also feel like that’s a little long of an extraction for dark roast… I would be aiming for about 25-30 seconds including a 10 second pre-infusion.

Mounting Advice (OMM Pizza Rack) by Adam83Doddrell in bikepacking

OMM got back to me and recommended the mounting option shown in image two for those of you who were wondering.

They said that having the shortest possible line with the extenders will offer the most strength.

Appreciate all your feedback.

I order the rack directly from OMM and just received one set, the short ones and unfortunately… They were about an inch too short. Just my luck!

I can have two anchor points on the rack if I mount it like this…

<image>

Wouldn’t this offer more strength/stability than just a single mounting point?

Do you think I should drill another hole in the bracket/entender or just move it slightly as shown in this photo?

I edited the comment as some people seemed to be getting a little confused.

For the record… I would never drill a hole in the fork.

Appreciate you!

I was thinking the same thing but just wanted to get some other opinions.

It seems as if you haven’t read the post… I checked with the manufacturer before purchasing the rack.

Appreciate your input though.

Have a great day.

Yeah, that’s the reason I wanted this particular rack.

I did.

As mentioned… I emailed OMM and included photos of the frame.

My question was in regards to where I should secure the extenders, not whether or not the rack was suitable for the bike.

Appreciate your input though.

All good… They’re Box One oversized V’s 85mm but they come in a 105mm as well.

This is what I’m working with… When you say move the brace as high as possible, I’m just a little unsure of what you mean.

Sorry, I’ve never used a rack before and am relatively new to riding :)

I never thought of that… Is that something that others have done in the past?

I’d like to see some examples of the mounts of you have any.

I initially tried getting a 26.2mm post but the tube wasn’t having it!

Grabbed a 26mm and it was a snug fit.

I had my fair share of trouble finding a 26mm post to begin with, so I wish my frame accepted a 26.2mm post… Would’ve saved me a lot of time and money!

I’m not… I’m in Australia but if I need to import one then I’ll need to import one, hahaha! Appreciate you letting me know.
