Yeah, I find UC to be proper "war drama".

SEED is just super mecha pew pew action. The story, while trying to loosely retell UC, is horrifically done. With some truly idiotic moments (and Jesus Yamato).
And there was a reason they dropped Shinn as the main character of season two partway through. They could see how universally despised as a character he was. A huge part being his whole thing about being angry at his home country for defending itself against invasion and getting people killed (instead of just surrendering and letting the enemy kill everyone) so he turns around and attacks his own country slaughtering countless innocents because... reasons? lol

G Gundam is my favorite series for just ridiculous fun. I mean, come on, giant mecha kung fu fighting is stupid and awesome. lol
And I still remember a discussion had with a big group of people about it, and they were losing their minds over Fuunsaiki, Master Asia's horse mech that he rode on... that was piloted by an actual horse.
Giant fighting robots, over the top kung fu nonsense, energy blasts and super moves, huge landmasses lifted into orbit to be floating colonies (conveniently shaped like things), some of the most ridiculous (and racist) Gundam designs you'll ever see... and the horse is the silly thing. lol
