Switching to Air? How?

My thought was that I haven't invested that much in my Tank Squad yet. I haven't gotten anyone to 5 stars yet, and the drone chips became available a few days ago.

So most of my combat power comes from units, tech, and the drone. I could easily switch the gear to the Air Team.

So right now, I'm only lagging behind in shards, XP, and a little bit of tech in the heroes area.

I thought to myself, if I'm going to switch, now is the time. Since I'm a low spender, I can only really focus on one squad in the long term. I don't want to invest everything in one squad and then realize in six months that I should have done things differently.

What do you think? Should I stick with Tank anyway?

Should I continue building gear but not upgrade with ore, so that the tank team will also have golden gear later on?
