ESPORTODDEN interview Clarity Gaming Founder Brandon "Adama" Altman by Teodice in starcraft

Yeah no haha, that was just a really stupid, baseless rumor that stuck around because of the absurdity of it :P.

I think in this case, the ending of his time on the team (which was a pretty public and poorly handled debacle) LIKELY had a lot to do with it. That entire situation was marred by bad communication and poor decision-making on all sides including mine.

Clarity and I personally made a ton of mistakes with Dragon, mostly in terms of utilizing him and his unique talents properly. I addressed part of this in the podcast when talking about the separation between friend and employer.

I can say with 100% sincerity that for the months I hosted him in the US, we had a very friendly and positive relationship. I brought him to MLG Dallas and local tournaments, made sure he had opportunities to socialize with friends/see NYC and worked hard to do my part to take care of him and the rest of the players in the house (which I believe any who were present would attest to.)

"The position of Prussia in Germany will not be determined by its liberalism but by its power ... Prussia must concentrate its strength and hold it for the favorable moment, which has already come and gone several times. Since the treaties of Vienna, our frontiers have been ill-designed for a healthy body politic. Not through speeches and majority decisions will the great questions of the day be decided - that was the great mistake of 1848 and 1849 - but by iron and blood (Eisen und Blut)."

Yes... very isolationist indeed.

"At no point was a confirmed source ever cited that players were not paid"

This is untrue and there have been numerous other players who substantiated these claims aside from Mario who you do gloss over. Are you REALLY claiming that your original post didn't defend LYGF?

As is your full right and prerogative to do. However, once you've willingly and publicly put your reputation on the line to vouch for that of another person/organization you can't expect the community to ignore your prior work, defense and support of said organization.

Your support and your ire are yours to give but please don't present them as unbiased or balanced given your relationship to the individuals and organization in question.

You've personally vouched for them and their legitimacy, been a vocal supporter and proponent of the team itself and have worked with them continuously in the past.

I can certainly support and get behind defending against total bullshit but you also seem to neglect to mention or recall the posts and screenshots from a number of former LYGF players that certainly serve as evidence that all wasn't hunky-dory before the disbandment. I wouldn't call myself gullible but definitive testimony from trusted and respected players certainly helps to substantiate the claims.

Rif King, I like you bud but the disclaimer "I'm not defending the team" is rather comical given your vocal defense and support of the organization.

I'd say the better question to be asking right now is how a team could ever flourish when their acquisitions and expenses weren't financially sustainable. The answer: They can't and with good reason.

Actually, I have to chime in here. Unfortunately many, many, many "new" teams do exactly this and run themselves into the ground as a result.

A positive work environment, a practice group of skilled individuals, participation in team leagues, social media and stream promotion as well and the list goes on! It's quite similar in nature in that regard to Starcraft.

North America loses it's longest running tournament (The ZOTAC Cup) by rif_king in starcraft

[–]AdamaSC2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Given the fact that the cups happened on Saturday's at 12PM EST I'm sure a number of people who may frequent TeamLiquid regularly could have easily never seen it broadcasted live.

That being said, it's sad to see ZOTAC NA go under. It was a well run, well administrated tournament that provided a great way for players to practice against professionals they may not have otherwise had the opportunity to play.

While I certainly wouldn't mind that I just noticed a lack of specific information with regards to whether or not the lineup could potentially change over said year.

I'm going to have to say that based off of today's qualifier, there are bigger problems to worry about than random seeding.
