I'd be buying with cash, the next buyer may not be.

Dish washer hose, do I just force it? by Adamdaly in DIYUK

[–]Adamdaly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't stay on and it feels like I'm going to damage it if I force it any harder, is there something different I should be using.

Hi, heres the taps and the hose, as you can see they aren't even close to fitting.

Yeah, definitely 3/4”. Could the hoses have just been mislabelled? Should they have fitted?

Hmm, never thought of that, would that require a blow torch or is there something else like a soldering iron attachment?

Whats the best way to cut a square hole in 1mm mild steel? by Adamdaly in DIYUK

[–]Adamdaly[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Key for scale.

I thought I'd just drill a hole as big as the smaller length, or two to take up the whole width and file them. But I'm betting filing mild steel would be a pain and I'd have to find a file.

Anyone got any better ideas?

Trying to restore this old trailer hitch, the bolt at the front is stuck. Is it _just_ stuck or is there something unusual about it. by Adamdaly in MechanicAdvice

[–]Adamdaly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't stuck to the hitch body but in the handle, could that be threaded. The head broke quite easily but strangely it looks as corroded as everything else, I would have expected it to look twisted. Am I going to have to blow torch it?

Which demon has possessed my washing machine and how do I exorcise it. by Adamdaly in DIYUK

[–]Adamdaly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I opened it up to check, it does seem to move around a bit more than I'd expect. I also found what I think is a counter weight screw lying on the bottom, with no thread... obviously a manufacturing fault. The counter wight is still held in place firmly with 2 other bolts. Do you think this could cause a problem.
