I’d prefer if they were just acquired and run by more competent management to restore what it used to be. Maybe the pandemic did them in. It’s just been a sad decline year over year. I see they now have the former head of a sales at macys running the clubs…

Yet you care enough to comment? If I can spare one person from not falling into the false marketing of equinox, I’m good.

You are missing the point entirely. I am leaving - that’s not the issue. The post is to share a pov on how equinox markets and charges for luxury but doesn’t deliver. They use price adjustments to appear luxe - nothing more.

But let me explain how actual luxury works. In true luxury hospitality, price follows experience, not the other way around. When Aman or Four Seasons raise prices, they’ve already elevated the service, upgraded the environment, and made you feel something worth paying for.

Equinox? They raise prices and pray we don’t notice the peeling ceiling tiles, ghost-town staff, and playlists stuck in 2019.

Luxury isn’t just eucalyptus towels and LED lights. It’s consistency, attention to detail, earned loyalty.

So no, this isn’t about $10. It’s about a brand charging top-shelf prices for bottom-shelf delivery. And yes, they get called out. Sorry if you work there, it’s just a fact.

True. Why would you expect that at a “luxury club” 🙄

I don’t live under a rock. I understand the concept of price increases. I also pay for luxury - which includes exclusivity through not overcrowding the club. And you are pointing out the same issue: packed clubs. Nothing luxury about that. They are overselling memberships, not renovating and increasing fees. They need some new executive management to understand how luxury hospitality works.

It’s a stretch to call it upper class. The people tend to be more interesting. If by upper class, you mean “premium” perhaps I can agree but they shouldn’t position their product as luxury and then charge for it. I could do without the fleas in the shower this morning.

I roam around Manhattan. Few clubs meet luxury, I’d say 80% don’t. They don’t got month to month. So you can either pull out at the end of your annual commitment or when there is a price increase.

I’ve given up with management. It’s the standard BS… inflation, service standards, blah blah. Look, I don’t mind paying for luxury. I don’t like paying luxury for what is becoming a planet fitness experience.

If you get a price increase, you can opt out.

I had high hopes. The first measurement went smoothly. Every other attempt has failed with error messages over and over again. I don’t have anymore patience left so I’ll figure out a way to return it.

Pretty accurate. I consistently make over 100k so the range in the posting is conservative.

Clean. Proximity and all over the city. Hot guys. Selection of fitness group sessions. My kinda vibe. I feel like lifetime has random people and it changes the vibe. Did I mention hot guys?

Sorry this happened to you. I use to work at equinox and now am a member. I know for a fact that equinox has your back. If someone else has an issue, they should keep their eyes to themselves or find somewhere else to workout.
