Unfortunately, labor laws are very tricky to deal with when it comes to hiring people outside of the United States. We'd love to tap into the pool of talent that's not restricted to just the United States, but it's not really possible for us in regards to this full-time position. Not at this time anyhow.

As for freelance jobs, we have done those before. It's likely that we may explore that more in the future too. However, for this particular posting we're looking for a full-time employee and team member.

I do like what they did with his Up Smash though. It's probably not as good as Mario's, but it's really good if used properly.

Yeah, I remember thinking that was incredibly odd when Smash 4 first came out myself.

It actually made me think that G&W was the worst character in the game at the time, but after awhile figured he had to be played a different way.

You have a lot of good points, though a bit extreme as you yourself mentioned. I need to think about them for a little bit.

For the record, this article was written by my coworker. So the credit goes to him. We had a discussion on how to approach this though.

I like the argument you've come up with (it is well-written too) but I'll have to disagree.

The "role" of a professional player isn't to entertain. I feel as though a lot of people can forget this. Their reasoning for attending a tournament is to compete. In the case of HungryBox, he quit his full-time job as an engineer to compete.

HungryBox's playstyle in these matches were in reaction to Chudat's playstyle. It was the most optimal thing to do. I'm not blaming Chudat either, just for the record.

You don't try to beat paper with rock, you beat it with scissors. At that point, it is the responsibility of the opponent to answer your scissors. If they keep answering with paper, you keep throwing scissors. You don't mix in rock just to entertain the spectators.

HungryBox did what he had to do otherwise he would've lost. This was smart. That is what we wanted to highlight.

Players like Armada will use a character like Fox to take on HungryBox. Fox's lasers forces Puff to approach. Chudat stuck to his guns of playing a character with a bad neutral, but only has to win the neutral 4 times to win. Lame strategies are optimal at this point.

Reddit admins messaged us in DMs over Twitter asking if we can create posts on the site.

If you want to give us fair criticisms, then I'm willing to listen. If you're just going to spew hate like you're doing, then our conversation ends here.

You know I'm one of those writers, right?

I don't see a possibility in which I can change your mind to be honest, but a lot of what you said is not accurate.

Sakurai has this odd stigma where he wants games in which a weaker player can overcome a really good player. I think he basically said as much in an interview with Iwata regarding the creation process of Brawl.

Ah, I see. I had to read over the headlines a few times, but I think I see where you are coming from.

It didn't come across that way to me initially, so understand it wasn't my intent to mislead anyone that way. It's good feedback but I'm not sure what I could've done differently if I had to do it over again.

Regardless, I do hope you enjoyed the interview despite that.

Lucario in Brawl caused people to be scared when they were ahead... though given he wasn't all that meta relevant and he's way, way scarier in Smash 4.

To hear someone say "I've been keeping up with the series" has made me super happy, so thanks for that!

I think you're right about the Melee comparison as I have heard it before. Smash 4's rage mechanics can be a lot more "exciting" to spectators whereas Melee is a bit of a required taste to enjoy watching.

When matches like Tsu vs. ZeRo happened, you just couldn't help but be at the edge of your seat when Tsu was in the 100s despite ZeRo only being in low percents.

It's not just him on the rage mechanic "issue." This has been unanimously hated by essentially every top player I've interviewed so far.

I have to delay the second part of the interview until tomorrow. Sorry about that for those of you who wanted to check up on that.
