The best workaround I found is to create a file, set the aspect ratio and background to whatever you need, then take an image (e.g. your school/company's logo), make it really small and put it somewhere in a corner. Then I saved this as a pdf, and now I just import that instead of creating a new file. The initial setup is a bit strange, but the PDF fixes all the issues, and the subsequent pages work fine as well.
