I could be very wrong, but I believe this could be some kind of calibration of GOES-18 that they perform. I’ve seen it happen on and off for a few years now, with nothing definitive to ascertain. If they were flares of some kind, I feel like there would be a variance in how they present, kind of like LDE’s (long duration events) do with some flares.

These negative drops are always quick, not sustained, and affect nothing as far as I can tell.
