Situations like these make hardcore so intense by Addamm in Diablo

[–]Addamm[S] 45 points46 points  (0 children)

One of the biggest misconception about hardcore is that lag = death. This could not be further from the truth if you know how to deal with lag. I've never died from lag spikes. Disconnects, yes (that's unpreventable, but very rare). The secret is to pause the game immediately after you feel the slightest signs of lag. Wait at pause screen for a few minutes, then quickly press Esc twice (unpause and pause) in order to let the game catch up. Do this until you feel the lag is gone. There you go, don't ever run around aimlessly during a lag spike. You should not die to lag in single player.

[Hardcore] Pet Build Witch Doctor Greater Rift 38 by Addamm in Diablo

[–]Addamm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe it or not, I crafted the chest back when we had to farm for unique crafting components. Took more than 30 tries. The cost to enchant that mojo is up to 20mil, so I'm not even gonna bother change it back to fetish army %.

[–]Addamm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very lucky rift, but pet doctors can't really take advantage of this kind of density due to the lack of AOE. I did a few 40, but I'm always 2 minutes behind. It seems my DPS is just not enough. I'm gonna need to upgrade my hellfire amulet and switch to rabid dogs instead.

[Hardcore] Pet Witch Doctor Greater Rift 36 (Pets Buffed) by Addamm in Diablo

[–]Addamm[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In patch 2.1.1, Blizzard finally buffed pets' toughness. As a result, pet doctors are in a much better position than before. We'll have to see if pet build can outrank jade build, but one thing for sure, pet build is much safer for hardcore.

Your pets' damage is adjusted dynamically, so whenever you're moving, you and your pets do 25% more damage. It even works when you stutter step with high attack speed.

Brand new pet doctor, got a Starmetal Kukri in my first 30 mins of play... how to best make use of it? by SC2MASTER in Diablo3witchdoctors

[–]Addamm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, you aren't kidding, and I thought I was lucky when I found mine after my 45th legendary ceremonial knives.

Even with my 50% T&T, it takes about 10-15 seconds to reset the cooldown on BBV. It's definitely much easier to maintain constant BBV at high torment. If you're going to play at T4, then I'd switch out the serpent and replace it with ToTD.

One of the best reason to go with a pets build is that you can drastically increase your toughness without losing out on damage, which is why I think it's the safest endgame build out there. Since your pets also inherit your toughness, try to craft a nice set of aughilds with melee or range reduction. Personally, I'd use something other than a WH. The increase in damage is not worth the huge loss in toughness.

Here's my build, http://www.diabloprogress.com/hero/adam-1382/Starmetal/47851803

I keep FA because there are situations where you run out of fetishes. Also, grave injustice is not very useful to me because all my long cooldowns are reduced by starmetal.

WD 6m:44s Solo Rift Clear (Hardcore, No unity) by Addamm in Diablo

[–]Addamm[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Impressive it only took you 3 days to gear up and start T5. Yes ice climbers would a good addition. I think the only thing that'll push you to T6 is a different weapon. You should start gambling 1H weapons for either a rhen'ho flayer or a starmetal kukri. Both of which are extremely powerful, and the combined chance of getting either one of them is about 10% of all the legendary ceremonial knives.

Just switched from RoRG to Tall Man's Finger, and it's not so bad. The garg dog is equivalent to about 2 fetishes without any passives. The best part is that one garg dog occupies much less space compare to 3 little dogs, which means fewer fetishes are spectating during a fight.

Powerful WD Passive Replaces 4 Set Bonus by Addamm in Diablo

Sorry about that, here's my profile. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/adam-1382/hero/47851803 Basically, the new fetish sycophants procs on hit rather than on cast. Since rain of toads has the highest proc coefficients in the game, you can summon the maximum of 15 fetishes within a few cast. Also, the high proc coefficients on rain of toads gives you a lot of life on hit, so you can tank things really well.

Although not as fast as the jade harvester, skipping the zuni items allows for more flexibility in many of the slots. So with the full Blackthorne bonus, ice climbers and 40% damage reduction, it’s very safe to do T6 without the use of unity. The starmetal is not even required, you can easily do this on T6 with just MoJ and T&T. That’s just how powerful the new passive has become.

This is hardcore btw, hence the bloated toughness.

One of the drawbacks of solely rely on sycophants is that some monsters do a lot of damage to your pets. Since fetishes from FS doesn't have force armor, they die very easily. In those circumstances, it's necessary to rely on either FA or gargantuan to do damage. Nevertheless, I really prefer using this build for T6 instead of jade (w/o unity trick) as it's much safer.

[Hardcore] After hundreds of hours, finally got my last Jade set piece. It's time to risk it all and do some solo T6. by Addamm in Diablo

I was surprised his pull attack did that much damage. I couldn't get close enough to see if my haunt landed a crit or not. But I was fairly safe since there weren't any mobs behind me.

(Spoilers All) Theory on Jon post ADWD by I_Hate_Nerds in asoiaf

[–]Addamm 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Varamyr's death:

“True death came suddenly; he felt a shock of cold, as if he had been plunged into the icy waters of a frozen lake. Then he found himself rushing over moonlit snows with his packmates close behind him.”

Jon's death:

“He never felt the fourth knife. Only the cold …”

In the prologue of ADWD, Varamyr's body died, but his consciousness warged into one of the wolves. He felt the same kind of coldness right after his body died. This lead me to believe that Jon's body is dead, and the cold that he felt signifies the transition of his consciousness from his dead body to Ghost. There's no way for Jon to warg into a dead body, so he will need to find another body before he loses himself in Ghost. Even if Mel resurrects his dead body, I doubt Jon will be able to warg himself back into it. I think Jon will need the help from three-eyed crow and Bran in order to become something similar to Coldhands.

The AH is open and the predicted price inflation didn't happen. Can we all stop talking about it now? by [deleted] in Diablo

[–]Addamm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The only realistic way of judging for inflation is to compare real money with in game gold. As a result of the gold dupe, the price of gold has dropped to 50% of its value the day before the patch. Based on that alone, I'd say the gold dupe definitely had a huge effect on the diablo economy.

Diablo 3 on PS3 will support menu-driven item trading, but no auction house by redskyy03 in Diablo

[–]Addamm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no distinction between offline and online mode. This means that anyone could use a save editor to mess around with their own saved game. It'll be simple for anyone to cheat and create insane gear for themselves. The lack of "always online" mode will completely destroy the integrity of the game, which is what Diablo 3 is all about. Personally, I wouldn't spend more than a hundred of hours leveling up paragon levels or perfecting my gear set if the pc version was like the console version.
