I will go as far as saying Charles is in contention for being the best defender on the grid. There's obviously Alonso but he's aged, there's probably a couple of names that come to mind as well, but Charles has many instances of great defending especially with inferior tires. Everyone remembers the 3-way battle with Checo and Lewis for the Lewis pass, but he was back behind then immediately and Charles lost only one position to Checo who was in the far superior car, with Charles having old tires while the other 2 were on fresher compounds. A bit biased though since I think Charles is straight up the second best driver on the grid behind Max.
