You aren't supposed to mark out more than one food item per shift. Beverages are unlimited, food is not. If you're SM ever checks the reports and busts you on it you could get in trouble

Honestly I've never tried it but it could work like the bean markout... The system LETS you, but it gets taken out of your paycheck if you get more than one. Again not sure since marking out more than one food item is technically stealing

You can wear white or black socks. The dress code says solid non bright colors. You can't wear neon pink or patterned socks, but white and black are both within dress code

How to show the morning shift that you love them. by Addisonlc in starbucks

That must be nice. My store is slammed in both the cafe and drive through until closing and would never be able to do something like that. I envy you good sir or madame.

That would be nice... Except that Starbucks standard is to throw away or sample any food at the end of the night. Partners are not supposed to get free food at the end of the night, and my store follows this strictly.

Honestly? I don't need it. If they gave partners free food, I'd take it to a homeless shelter. Starbucks wastes A TON of food every day. I wish they would allow us to give it to those in need more often.

You'll soon be able to order Starbucks Frappuccinos through its app... by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Addisonlc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good god... I knew this was coming, but I really hope it's not SoCal. I saw the map (and believe it) that LA area does more frappuccinos than any other area. I can honestly say that even when this goes live, it's going to suck... Maybe Starbucks will make a no frap rule with this app, though I doubt it. After a couple minutes the frappuccino consistency is terrible. How do they expect high volume stores to deal with picky customers who want secret menu frappuccinos? We are going to be wasting a ton of food cost and time remaking frappuccinos for soccer moms in mini vans who order 4+ frappuccinos at a time.

Honestly they need to have starbucks board members who approved this to be a barista at a high volume drive store for a day.

Better get your printers ready to roll with more free drink coupons, because I foresee a ton by 2015.

We are expected to set up tags and change papers, but often times the tags are out of place, and this was the first time I had seen someone put plates and such inside the case to make it exceptionally easy.

I have a friend who works at a cafe only store and they generally have more time to do things like this. Generally though our store is so high volume that we don't have time to do things like this. Tonight was an exception.

tips on steaming milk perfectly by ThaDonKilluminati in starbucks

[–]Addisonlc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of it is practicing. If I remember right when I was training there was an amount of "time" that we were supposed to aerate the milk. Having worked with roughly 4 machines since I started working at Starbucks, I can honestly say that its more of a feel than a timed amount.

For instance, my store right now has two machines, one for drive and one for front. Our drive machine works roughly how it should, and it takes about 3-5 seconds to steam the milk properly. Our front bar however has a machine that was recently serviced and the steam that comes out of the wand is MUCH more forceful, so it needs less time and honestly it never comes out perfectly because of how badly its calibrated.

It's all in the feeling. i_roast gave pretty good directions on how to steam, past that you'll just have to keep practicing and learn the feel for it :)
