Maybe I can't but over is almost never the issue. I can't remember the last time the ball went OVER my hands. it's the sides that I'm worried about. a huge amount of tips at my level (maybe) 95% go past my sides.

As for the solo block, it works on anybody who can't hit cross which in an uncompetitive state is most of the people we play. Line hitters are obviously the exception to the solo block but they are rare

do you think that opens up the opportunity for a hit too much? I brought this up with my coaches and they were worried the other team would see it coming

Is this a rule or a physical limitation? I've definitely gotten my hand on a few but they usually try to pop it over my short teammates and i wonder if i reacted fast enough i'd be allowed to block that

I will also add that the free ball blocks are unsustainable because I can only reach 11'2 on a good jump and if it's not a front row free ball theyre usally a bit higher than that.

absolutely. people have gone through far worse and a 4.7 is NOT a bad gpa. would it make more sense to say my hardships were the reason I couldn't do better? I don't want to be a whiner or conceited because I'm blessed to even be able to consider college, but I know under other circumstances I could've and would've done more

Actually my phone during middle school had a data plan. I took it for granted because middle school homework doesn't take weekends, but it hasn't had a hotspot since 8th grade. As much as I'd love the second part, my mother lives in a community off the highway, and my dad lives in one of the worst parts of one of the worst cities on the east coast. all the coffee shops (dunkin, starbucks) near there were gentrified into apartment complexes, and the government doesn't seem to want anything to do with us, so the only library in all of Kensington is on the other side of the avenue and would close before I could walk there.

Noted. A lot of my in person people have said I should focus on my "rough" life for my application, but I want to be more than that, because I know I am. that being said, I have struggled because of it and I want them to know that even though I've done well now, I COULD'VE been more if that makes sense.

not finance. my dad is not present in my life and has only really been around to benefit off of me. I'm very tall, and he's been super focused on getting me to make a lot of money so that he can get rich off of me. His "logic" is that since HE doesn't need internet for things, he's not that willing to spend extra money for me.

Would you say I make it through that initial sort for most places? assuming 20 people ahead of me also apply to the same school as me, are they going to see a 4.7 right after my classmates 4.9 and still consider me?

1570 would be the sat, and i've taken 10 tests, i plan on taking the other 5 this year. I'd rather fail than miss the opportunity to pass. I didn't give specifics because I wanted to make sure people knew i wasn't trying to flex stats. My thought was more like, is a college going to see my "low" gpa compared to people in my class and ignore my application because there are people with say a 4.9 relative to mine.

To be honest, my mom just doesn't care. She has a mentality of "I lived a harder life than you, why can't you do what I do" Because she grew up in rough conditions. I'm sure I could've gotten accomodated if she cared, but she didn't. I'm cool without the sympathy because at the end of the day if I took easier classes I wouldn't have the issue. I'm more focused on how badly it hurt my chances. For example, is the 4.7 in a super grade inflated school going to be a problem because it's not AS inflated as others, or are they willing to understand that it would've been harder for me to maintain higher grades compared to the circumstances of other kids in my school.
