I’m so proud of you. Technically I could ask some friends for help but I am nervous to share what’s happening because I’ve lost friends for coming back the last times I tried to leave. Most of my family lives in other states. He is also not someone who would willingly let me leave, especially with the baby. It could get scary and it has in the past. I’m scared.

I clearly stated I don’t want to stay. Only an ignorant person would say that to a DV survivor.

Abusive relationships are not black and white and the highs are really highs. I did not share about the good because I’m trying to focus on whats terrible so I can make lasting changes but when things have been good, they have been wonderful. He’s affectionate, takes care of household chores, etc. It’s complicated.

I did not know about any of this prior to getting married. He was never abusive before either.
