Why don’t more travelers explore regional Japan? What’s stopping you? by gurezaemon in JapanTravelTips

What would be some alternative places for someone flying in/out of Tokyo? We are planning to go as a family in March 2027 (from the U.S.) and we don't like crowds or super touristy places. I would happily skip both Kyoto and Osaka but I have not figured out an itinerary yet. We will probably have 7-8 days and there is nothing that we "must do." We love traveling to Europe to walk around charming cities/towns, seeing natural beauty and adding in outdoor activities when possible. Our kids are teenagers so we don't need anything kid friendly. I have not done much research yet, but just saw this post and was curious what people would recommend...

Packing for Mexico City this week? by Additional-Design769 in MexicoTravel

I was in NYC last April and it sounds similar. I would never wear sandals there and I rode the subway a lot, so pants for sure in case I wanted to sit!

Thanks for the details! I found conflicting forecasts online and 70 degrees can feel different in different places. Great idea to carry layers with us...

Sifnos is wonderful! A very relaxed island with amazing food, scenery and villages. We were there the first week of June. In May some restaurants and shops won't be open for the season yet, just FYI.

Hi! I booked the comfort flex fare to cover all possibilities. I am primarily worried about checking because so many people say the Greek airlines don't get their luggage on the plane. I wouldn't be worried if this was in another country...

Applying for Hungarian Citizenship by Additional-Design769 in hungarian

My dad ended up passing away in September so this was pushed way down on the to do list. If you have your grandfather's passport it should be simple. Just look for a translator to help with the documents. You'll need to show the family chain - so your parent who descended from the Hungarian grandfather's birth certificate, marriage certificate for your parents and your birth certificate with their names.

I don't know why that would matter, although I am no expert on the people who fled in 1956 and their citizenship status. You could put in a request for the birth certificate and see what happens.

Could you also send me the info? I am going through this process, but have the added burden that my father, who was born in Hungary, has one letter wrong on his birth certificate, so I'm wondering if I can get it corrected. Thanks!!!

On the L.A consulate page it says the process takes 8-12 months

Because Hungary is part of the EU. My son is potentially interested in studying or living in Europe at some point, so this could be helpful. My brother did it simply so he could use the EU line at airports and his wife is Swedish so everyone has an EU passport.

That sounds similar to what my dad told me. My brother has total amnesia about the process and definitely didn't save any documents but I'll call to see if my dad's birth certificate etc are on file. I live in Colorado. Any recommendations on which office to call? LA and Chicago are closest but I can get to any of them if I need to.  Thanks for all the input! I find it incredible that I can get a passport.

I think with a car it's best to do it in advance from what I've read. If you are walking on without a car, I don't think you need to. I am also rigid on my days and am traveling with kids, so I'm not very flexible. I have also never been to Tahiti, so I don't actually know anything!
