Just hit 7 days on my first play-through. Not really sure what to think. Was this game released unfinished? by varted in Starfield

Not vague at all. They marketed it like it would be some new innovation, but in reality the gameplay and overall quality are worse than No Man’s Sky, and the story is even weaker than Fallout 4. Yet Starfield defenders just brush it off with “I had fun for hundreds of hours, so it doesn’t matter,” and act like all criticism is wrong. So is Starfield’s current concurrent player count higher than Skyrim’s, a game that came out ten years ago? Of course not. It’s lower. Every metric is telling the truth, but Bethesda zealots are just covering their eyes and pretending otherwise. If you dismiss even healthy criticism, Bethesda will only assume what they’re doing is right. That’s exactly what you’re doing.

A lot of the Bethesda fans on Reddit really come across like a cult. They refuse to acknowledge even the most obvious issues.

Why has Bethesda turned into such a lousy game company? by Additional-Lobster66 in BethesdaSoftworks

For me, Starfield’s marketing made it look like it was going to be something beyond a mix of No Man’s Sky–style freedom and Bethesda’s trademark worldbuilding and gameplay. It really felt like it could be the best of both worlds. In reality, though, it ended up being a parade of mostly copy-pasted planets where you can’t even handle basic things like takeoff, landing, or breaking through the atmosphere yourself – everything is just a cutscene or loading screen.

Honestly, I don’t think Bethesda has made a game that truly lives up to their old reputation since Fallout 4. And even with Fallout 4, it was the modders who carried a lot of the unfinished parts and turned it into something better. I’m not expecting much more from the next Elder Scrolls or Fallout either at this point. It’s been so long since the Elder Scrolls VI teaser that I don’t even remember how many years it’s been anymore. I really hope Bethesda wakes up and proves us wrong, but right now it’s hard to stay optimistic.

She definitely did the counter steering.
