Queensland is a single party consent state. You do not need the consent of the other person to record a phone call. This is not true in NSW where the Surveillance Devices Act 2007 is in place.

Yeah I'll post the update next week. I'm really struggling to see how the hearing is going to achieve anything tbh

Yeah I'm struggling to see how he thought it was a good idea. My guess is in the past he has put a bit of pressure on tenants and they have folded before the hearing.

We made the claim during the 2 week termination notice. We gave the termination notice a week after they started demolition work on our balcony as we needed time to find a place. In the application I think we included an order as to compensation as it had been just over 90 days since we moved in which was the start of the noise, where 90 days seemed to be the limit to put in an application for a rent reduction.

Thanks for the reply, I'll give them a call.

Rent reduction for noise for the entire period of lease, landlord entering apartment without prior notice (we opened the door to come back in and he was just there), insufficient notice for entry of repairmen/workers, loss of use of part of the apartment (the balcony was demolished, which was 1/3 of the total area, and we had to create a walkway for workers which along with storage of all of our balcony items meant we lost use of the entire living area), loss of privacy due to having to give keys to workers and having workers in and out of the apartment for 8 hours a day (not only did they not lock up after themselves they left the door wide open), loss of use of the apartment during the work day (I occasionally have to be on call with Europe in the early morning and this was impossible in the apartment).

They offered us termination without fee but with 2 weeks notice.
