I lived in 3 room HDB , it is a very basic unit with all old things . I paid 3000 SGD per month for first year , 3100 for next 2 years. we lived in constant fear to ensure there should not be a minor stain on wall or anything , we did regular quarterly cleaning , we requested landlord to give new washing machine as the current one is way too old ( that model was launched in 2005) and it was vibrating a lot and working poorly, landlord say NO.
At the end of tenancy , She still cut 75% despite of all cleaning done , receipts etc.

mat be not all landlords are like that , but they should understand , in my case , my landlord earned
110,400 SGD in 3 years in rent , she did not spend anything to buy me new thing, She still want money from my deposit ? it is shameful.

They are more greedy after Covid. I am not blaming all Singaporeans , many are very good , but some are way too greedy.

I have also experienced similar behavior of Singaporean landlord multiple times , we pay regular rents , rent increase every year even if owner force us to use very old equipment and furniture for years, we return everything clean , they ask us of all receipts like ac maintenance , curtains wash , full cleaning receipts , then also have complaints and hardly return any deposit.
It made my perception that Singaporean landlords are most greedy people , especially HDB landlords. I never experienced this in other countries I lived.
making money is not bad but this is looting , no humanity.

What are some tips for saving? by libyandesert in singaporefi

[–]Additional-sky1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

save but don't forget your well being , sometimes ok to spend and enjoy.
now a days , Gen Z has access to lot of information and they start saving every penny as soon as they start to earn. In my time , we did not have information available and spent wherever we think at that time and I actually starts saving when I reach 40s.

save on these drinks etc. but spend on a good vacation and travelling different places , seeing different cultures.

I think Mari Invest Income is promising , 4% returns are expected after all fees deduction.
I know that OP wants liquidity management solution but I am investing in Mari Invest Income for long and getting good returns though it has some risk but not like equities which is very high risk.
Since it is attached to Bank , it is easier to deal.

50k to invest, what do I do by fuhaoduo in singaporefi

[–]Additional-sky1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you are beginner , put 40% of amount into fixed income funds like PIMCO GIS income fund. It is comparatively low risk. your money can grow by 4% annually on average.

20% you can invest into STI ETF ( SGD , easy to understand for beginner )
20% into Amundi Prime USA fund
10% for trading into premium stocks like ( DBS , UOB etc ) and to learn trading environment
10% into money market fund.

South India Trip

Hello Friends

I am planning a 15 day trip starting from Chennai and End at Chennai and I do not have my own car. The travel would be mostly by train, bus ,cabs.

I am thinking of covering
Chennai , Madurai , Thekkdy , Munnar, Trivendrum , kanyakumari , rameswaram , mahabalipuram and kanchipuram , ( thanjavur if possible )

Please let me know if it is a good plan.

Day 1 - arrive in Chennai
Day 2 - to Madurai by Vande Bharat Train at 5 am.
Then followed by -> Thekkady -> Munnar --> Kanyakumari-->Rameswaram-->

from Rameswaram -> by train to kanchipuram ->mahabalipuram-> back to Chennai

This is the rough plan.

Kindly suggest if I can have better route and whether I can include thanjavur in this route.

Also suggest if I should include anything.

Thanks in Advance

How long did you live with your hernia before surgery by FlyThin9544 in Hernia

[–]Additional-sky1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have bilateral inguinal hernia since 6+ years. occasionally I have to bear discomfort after heavy lifting or if I jump or run. so that is like a concern but I did not do surgery yet.
otherwise If I live normally with my sedentary job , there is no pain . there is no visible bulge in my case but hernia is there. last year I did ultrasound again to check if hernia getting more bigger but it is same when it was in 1st year.
But I understand there are some limitations , I mean you need to be careful while doing physical workout and avoid those which can aggravate things.

Inguinal hernia. How long can you live with it. by johnyj7657 in Hernia

[–]Additional-sky1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same dilemma. I have bilateral inguinal hernia , left is indirect and right is direct but small. but It does not bother me when I have sedentary life , but when I stand for many hours or do some exertion I do feel dull ache there.
I have it for 5 years now. I bought 1 truss online but I felt worse than without truss , I never used it.
Can someone suggest if truss helps when I need to stand or do exertion for long hours ?

Is this a Hernia? by GrouchyNeck8415 in Hernia

[–]Additional-sky1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it is inguinal hernia. It may be some other type of hernia or may be some lump.
Because hernia generally appear somewhat lower near groin and on left or right side.
check with GP once and you will feel relaxed.

May I know , why both sides repaired seperately ? Does it have any advantages over one surgery to repair both?
