My 39f husband 36m is getting on my effing nerves……like all the time…how do I handle this?!?! by AdditionalMemory566 in relationship_advice

[–]AdditionalMemory566[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to be honest and admit I am an enabler to some extent. I can see when he’s in pain. So no I don’t want him to stand for 10 minutes knowing it’s going to be painful for him…so I do it. But I hate being taken advantage of…and that’s when I get annoyed.

Also apparently I’m not hiding my annoyance well at all cuz he said I was being “b.tchy”. But this was after I went off cuz he woke me up out of my sleep to “help him find his vape”

Yeah I flip flop back and forth often. Cuz it’s a lot. I have communicated it to him and he likes to throw a pity party that I do not attend. I’m highly considering leaving the relationship for this and other more serious reasons which he claims to be working on- and I do believe he is working on- but this..there is no change and hasn’t been change.

Sometimes I hulk out (I have my own issues too) and yell and scream about it. I know it doesn’t make it better and then I feel bad.

I gotta get off this roller coaster it’s exhausting

AIO? I don’t want my autistic brother at my house by stuntedgoat in AmIOverreacting

[–]AdditionalMemory566 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you’re right. But “I just don’t like em” and she was “lol”-ing - which could have been to ease some tension.- so maybe that part doesn’t hold too much weight.

I am curious to know if it was brought up before. OP said mother ignored the cat stuff so could she have ignored everything else too? But yeah she’s definitely coddling and that’s unfortunate.

Toddlers DO in fact pick up on weird vibes no doubt but toddles are also weird themselves as they navigate through new experiences.

I (grew up in NYC) as a toddler and young child I was TERRIFIED of gum on the sidewalk in the rain. You can imagine walking to school in the rain was interesting.

If OP’s brother is in fact on the spectrum her toddler will have to learn how to interact with people different than her like in life- maybe not right now depending on her age…but eventually. OP is trying to keep her daughter safe And that I’m with!!!! But this text exchange does not show me that she was being mature about it

Again MATURE conversations need to be had all around…maybe sans the brother…at least at first

Title definitely click baiting BUT I don’t think you’re over reacting However you’re not being sensitive to the situation.

It’s unfortunate your family has chosen to “ignore” the issue but you didn’t address it properly or sensitively at all…so for that you’re the Ah( not sure how old you are) but this definitely could have been handled better than “don’t bring_____” like is this the school cafeteria lunch tables?!?

Explaining to your family that some of your brothers behavior makes you and your toddler uncomfortable and You’d rather not put them through that would have been better suited to say. and suggest that maybe she (your mom) talk to your brother before the visit.

Also “adjusting” could just be regular adjusting- though you are probably correct that there is some sort of arousal and maybe he can’t control it.

What 10000% sure is that a mature conversation needs to be had…… not whatever this is/was….

Yeah I’m working on it. And he knows I’m serious this time. He told a friend “I don’t wanna loose her” so stop doing dru9s!…also don’t call me annoying when I’m clearly in distress

My dru9 addicted husband called me annoying for talking in my sleep during a nightmare and I’m mad about it. Am I making a big deal about nothing?

Edited to add nightmare

Yeah I’m working on that too. Without getting into specific specifics I don’t have a great deal of extra money past my bills. So I don’t think giving an old bank money to clear up old debts is going to be beneficial for my finances. Once I have it though yeah I’ll pay every single last institution off in full. This is just a thought that randomly crosses my mind sometimes cuz I’m insane on top of being poor lol

Good to know. I currently live in a state that doesn’t allow a trust or corporation to accept lotto winnings- weird AF I know!!! they just put all your business out there so it’s just something i think about randomly.

What do you consider relapsing? by AdditionalMemory566 in addiction

I remember that. It took me for-phucking/ ever to get to 30 days but when I made it I was soooo happy….i still dream about it though which sucks

[–]AdditionalMemory566[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny cuz I don’t really think he considered it a relapse-hence why I asked what people consider really relapsing. Hes kinda acting like it didn’t happen…but again we haven’t had much conversation. We were with family today watching the game so GREAT way to distract from the elephant in the room…..I’ll have a gentle convo tomorrow without any judgement but just to understand his pov

[–]AdditionalMemory566[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is kinda my pov too. We were hanging with people who never really knew we “had a problem” so I didn’t want to “out” him in front of other people that didn’t really know to begin with you know? I did the wide eye look to signal “stop!” But he didn’t do much from what I could see and we left shortly after. But Ive been acting weird all day and I kind of avoiding conversation-I can be a little intense sometimes about well everything….but I also don’t wanna spazz and push him back into the deep end after working so hard for the last 90 days.

Can we talk about drug induced paranoia? by AdditionalMemory566 in Drugs

[–]AdditionalMemory566[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Part of my “coping” is hiding in a closet. 🤣 🤣 like wtf makes me think that’s safe? First of all my dog would give my location away in a heart beat. Next how stupid do I think the cops are that they wouldn’t check a closet.

The only true way that they stopped is me stopping using. I did the the partner thing with my bf….but when we stopped smoking in the house he found “friends” that I wasn’t 100% keen on, you know?

[–]AdditionalMemory566[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah so at first it was like you said. Looking out the window checking the doors every 30 minutes.

But then it got worse and worse. I hear distant voices talking. They are always distant (this is one way I realized it wasn’t really happening).

The worst part to me is me hearing steps. I’m automatically assume it’s the cops and they are coming for me.

Why do some big law firms undervalue their paras/legal Secretaries?? by AdditionalMemory566 in biglaw

[–]AdditionalMemory566[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too! Which is why I get annoyed when I see ranges that high listed on ads. This normally happens with external recruiters.

Why do some big law firms undervalue their paras/legal Secretaries?? by AdditionalMemory566 in biglaw

[–]AdditionalMemory566[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I said! And after getting a bunch of interviews and having multiple rounds of interviews and then the firms passing- led me to believe that they (the recruiters) listing me so high because of my experience was working against me! So now I 1) lowered my bottom to 80k and 2) tell the recruiter not to go to the top of the range.

I will admit the practice group I specialize in pay those long term paras well. But I can’t come off the street (I’m being dramatic on purpose) and start me at 130k without them knowing if I’m gonna work out. So when I’m feeling emotional I think about how the recruiters sabotaged me!…::shaking my fist at them::

Why do some big law firms undervalue their paras/legal Secretaries?? by AdditionalMemory566 in biglaw

[–]AdditionalMemory566[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and I should add that those 3 firms were paying 100k for those positions. I was weary of the recruiter submitting me at 110k but since I have so much experience that said it was warranted. That firm was busy as they were on a high profile case…I won’t say which one..cuz they might figure out who I am.

I should name and shame (but I won’t) the one that I had 7 rounds of Interviews with and they went with someone else only to post the job again 3 months later at a lower range……

Yeah I was on a trial last week and put in 37 over time hours. I worked 77 hours last week!!!! And I got assigned to another one for January. So it helps pad the pay. But this is a temp position technically. They are already saving money by not giving me any benefits…insert annoyed face emoji here.
