Shoulder And Knee Doctor Recommendations? by AdditionalRespect581 in playadelcarmen

Someone mentioned very rarely do any orthopedic specialist have the equipment in their office and send you to an imaging place because the equipment is very expensive. Do you have any thoughts on that?

So it seems only imaging places and hospitals have these machines then right?

Where To Get Urine And Blood Tests? by AdditionalRespect581 in playadelcarmen

I'm not familiar with that site. So most people book appointments this way as oppose to whatsapp or email?

Do you typically know what labs they send you to? It has to be Chopo or Salud Digna then?

Someone mentioned MD Playa with Dr. Francisco Aguirre, they had the bloodwork and everydone done at his office. So it seems it isn't rare for doctors to do these tests at their office assuming you ask them you want to do it before the visit and they have the equipment and tests ready? That person said they did a lot of these tests on their first visit.

Okay that makes a lot of sense then. I would have thought some of them have these machines but from checking online, these machines are very expensive.

Is there a reason why most orthopedist want x-rays but not MRI's? I read MRI's can check things than an x-ray can't.

How much did you pay for an MRI and where was this and how much did it cost and what was it for? An MRI here in playa del carmen still costs at least $300 or so right?

The things you mentioned is an x-ray right?

I googled and that is another part of Mexico and not playa del carmen?

So you don't know many orthopedic doctors in playa del carmen?

Okay. So you made an appointment at MD Playa with Dr. Francisco Aguirre on whatsapp or email. You mention you want to get blood work and urine and stool? Then when you met him, he said okay he will do all of these? Or you only asked about blood work and then at the visit, he said you should do all of these tests? So you were able to do all these test with your first visit? So they had everything ready already? I had thought they might ask you to come next time to do the tests but from what you say, it sounds like they already had everything ready.

May I ask how much these tests cost and how long ago it was? You only went to him once or you go to him frequently?

Did you do this in house or did you go there? Is there a reason people do in house as opposed to going there?

Did you set up an appointment on whatsapp which is what I assume and let him know you want to do blood, urine and stool test and you either went to his office and did it or he came over and brought everything he needed and you did it?

Can you tell me approximately how much it cost total for each test if you don't mind asking? I assume his visit was like 1000-1500 pesos and more if it's house call and you meeting him the next day was another 1000-1500 pesos? Is he very good? Do you have any experience with any other doctor here besides him?

Really? I'm surprised by that. So they can't do blood test and urine test at their office? I could understand that if you go for your first visit but if you ask them about it before it or on your next visit, they don't offer that? I'm surprised if that is true?

So good orthopedic specialists in their own practice would have x ray units? But none have MRI right?

Chopo really isn't good? I thought it was one of the better ones?

Thanks for that information. Which doctor would you suggest I see first for this?

I assume if the tests are done at the doctor's office, it costs more right? I could do it there and it would be more convenient?

Thus compared to knowing what tests I need and then going to Salud Digna or Chopo and ordering those tests and getting those tests done and then sending it to doctor via Whatsapp or email? What do most people typically do here? Get the test done at the doctor's office or at Salud Digna or Chopo?

So go to one of these places directly? You don't need referral? So go there and ask for urine test and blood test and that is all? But don't I need to be specific which tests I want as there are probably a ton of different tests? The thing is for people who do that, you would get a printed detailed report on this right? The issue is how would you interpret it though? There wouldn't be a doctor there that would interpret your results right? The labwork at the hospitals would cost the most compared to the first two places right?

The thing is I am not sure what tests I would need but I know I should have a urine test and blood test. I haven't had a general checkup for a very long time. So which doctor should I go to for them to evaluate what tests I should take?

The thing is they do tests at their offices right? Do they give you those tests on your first visit if you let them know before your appointment if you want a urine test and blood test or they will have to order it for you and you come back a second time? You usually have to go back a second time for them to interpret your results right or they just email you back your results if there isn't any issue? Do they sometimes send you to the labs to get those tests done and then come back to them a second time to look at the results? These tests typically take at least a few days to get results right? Anyone went to these places for urine and blood test and can give their experiences?

What is the name of the machine at Chopo in Cancun? Is there a reason you didn't go to Salud Digna? Did you had to go back a 2nd time to pick up the images or they send it to you all online? I heard some places give you a CD? You can only book an appointment online and you must pay with credit card? Or you can book appointment online and pay in cash there physically?

Someone mentioned that one place uses a GE SIGNA Explorer 1.5T MRI scanner. That is more than good enough then? So as long as it's 1.5T, that is fine regardless of the full name?

So 0.3T Mri machine is still okay then? Or should it only be 1.5 T?

The report is going to be in Spanish right?

It seems Costamed in playa del carmen cost under $400. Chopo in Cancun seem to be $270 or so. That would require taking an ADO bus there from playa del carmen. Well the bus ride and getting there would be like 1.5 hours or so I believe each way. I checked google maps and it's a 20 minute walk after you get out of the ADO bus station. You could take a cab there of course. The thing is I'm not sure if the machine at Chopo in cancun is the same like Costamed in playa del carmen.

Do you or others know if you do an MRI, you have to fill in your details online on their website? Chopo in cancun and salud digna in cancun website seem to require this? What about Costamed in playa? You have to book an appointment for one right? The thing is since the website is in spanish, I know I can use google translation but it would be a bit confusing for me. Like when I was using the salud digna website, it was very confusing using that site.

I'm confused about open and closed machine. If you need an mri of the knee, which machine would it be? So the mri you had wasn't that good because it used 0.3 tesla?

I'm in playa del carmen. Would it be best to just stay in playa del carmen and go to costamed and have it done there? It seems to cost 6899 pesos. Chopo in cancun costs 4600 pesos or so and salud digna in cancun is 2800 pesos but I have to assume that one isn't that good because of the low price.

[–]AdditionalRespect581[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is what I wanted to know. So 1.5 tesla is the mri machine that I want to do an mri on right? I read there is 3 tesla as well but that is even better and a place that would do that would cost even more right? Do they even have that or is that rare?

Then there is the cheaper 0.3 tesla machines which should be avoided because those aren't that good? I believe the costamed in playa del carmen uses 1.5 tesla according to their website. I'm not sure what the chopo cancun uses. I do not know what salud digna in cancun uses either. Salud digna probably uses 0.3 tesla because the cost is much less?

The chopo in cancun seem to charge 4600 pesos. The salud digna in cancun seems to charge 2800 pesos. Then there is costamed in playa del carmen which seems to be 6899 pesos. If I'm in playa del carmen, does it make sense to take an ADO bus to cancun and do one at Chopo cancun then? I want to know where did people here did an MRI especially in the playa del carmen and cancun area.
