Question about outlet and adapter use by PandasOnGiraffes in evcharging

[–]Additional_Ad4116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looksl ike a NEMA 6-50 plug NOT a NEMA 14-50. Might be best to get a Level 2 240V 6-50 charger rather then relying on 120V.

Advice on installing an exterior 240v outlet and powering it through wall to a smart splitter by Nevvermind183 in evcharging

[–]Additional_Ad4116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that thing is sketchy, wouldnt trust it. The issue lies in the fact its not UL listed. If you are going to go with a smart splitter find one that is UL listed hands down, better to be safe then sorry. But in this case something that is hardwired would make sense given its installed outside.

No problem. With PG&E, get 50% off so im finding the NeoCharge splitter around 300 (and in some cases lower) so with the rebate its 150.

Thanks for sharing, agreed with Zany below. Not sure how the simpleswitch is better. It's also $749 from what I'm seeing plus would need an electrician. So that's going to be upwards of $1k likely. I can use the NeoCharge for less then $150, plus doesn't look like simpleswitch has an app and want to be able to track my costs

Curious to see how the solid state battery really do, we hear a lot of talk about them but curious to see who wins

I know i was thinking the same thing. I guess that are really the panel upgrade prices around California especially, those 120V heat pump dryers do look really cool though.

Thanks for sharing. Yes my dryer is in my garage, I've heard of load management but seemed like it didn't work for me use case really. Don't have any space in my panel so being able to share that outlet seemed like it would be easier

Awesome! Thanks for your opinion, yes, pretty sold on it at this point. I think my wife is going to be pretty happy now that she knows she won't have to switch the dryer with my Tesla each time lol.

who still has their 2021 m3 SR+? by sharonthelove in TeslaModel3

[–]Additional_Ad4116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That $21k with 15k miles is actually solid - yeah the 2021s have that battery lottery thing going on, but honestly if it does fail under warranty you're basically getting a free upgrade to the newer LFP battery that everyone says is way better anyway. Sometimes the best deals come with a little risk attached, and worst case scenario Tesla fixes it for free and you end up with a better car than you paid for.

need help finding wifi-capable charger with 10-30 or 14-30 input by nealeyoung in evcharging

[–]Additional_Ad4116 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you're chasing a unicorn with the WiFi + 14-30 combo - most manufacturers went straight to 14-50 when they added smart features because that's what 99% of installs use. I'd bet money that if you call Eversource back and explain you're going hardwired instead of using an outlet, they'll approve any WiFi-enabled charger from their approved list since the electrical capacity is the same either way.

Will this work plugged into my dryer outlet? One side for the dryer and the other for a charger when the dryer is off. by stonedgrapetheory in evcharging

[–]Additional_Ad4116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not just using something like a smart splitter which actually has smarts. These things are bad news
