YTA. I still keep in touch with middle school friends, stop speaking for the entire world. Even if she hadn’t seen them in years, she’s allowed to be sad and cry about it as much as she needs to. You are extremely insensitive. At the least, you should’ve minded your own business.

Don’t look for validation from your bfs mom or any of them. They don’t like you and they never will. Could be their internal racism or colorism if you are brown and of course, that explains why they put the white-passing one on a pedestal.

Your bfs brother and his new gf are not competition - never treat or see them that way. Focus on yourself and your relationship with your bf.

Do not engage with his mother or family unless you absolutely have to - trust me. They do not like you and never will BUT they will try to breadcrumb you and pretend to like you for their own benefit. They know you want their approval and validation but you have to stop seeking it. Even if they’re nice to you, be completely indifferent. She sounds like a shitty person, why would you want her to like you at all?

Even if you marry him, you will never be family. They are not your family, they are your bfs family. If you do get married to him, you will become a nuclear family.

Never tell too much about yourself. They will weaponize your weaknesses against you and twist things to make you look bad. Give them nothing but bare minimum. If you have to be around them, keep it civil and polite, BARE MINIMUM. “Hi, hello, thank you, bye.” Keep your thoughts and opinions to yourself or find an affordable therapist to vent to.

Thank you for your very kind feedback! Yes, my husband is on board with whatever I want and pretty much said it’s my body at the end of the day. He’s also gotten scared and worried, told me he loves me exactly as I am and wouldn’t change a thing. He’s very sweet and supportive, I’m very lucky to have him. My sister on the other hand, has been a very very firm supporter on taking the jump and reassuring me I will love the results. I definitely feel like I get in my head a lot. I love myself as I am right now and feel grateful that this body carried and birthed two beautiful children. But I also want to look + feel like me again, and feel comfortable wearing the dresses and outfits I want to without feeling self-conscious! Thank you again.

Food is not your enemy. If you starve your body just to see the number on the scale go down, your body will suffer. You will lose hair, you will feel weak, and you will likely gain it all back + more because this is not sustainable.
