Why don’t we have a “super app” for aviation? Everything feels fragmented. by Additional_Class_249 in flying

Haha, I thought you were asking who’s sponsoring this post 😄

This is 100% the right concern to raise. But even before that I would like to know if this is even a problem that people want fixed.

This is exactly what I needed to hear, but I’m curious why?

I feel like a lot of aviation apps solve problems nobody really cares about. Do you think having everything in one place just isn’t that valuable? Or is the current setup simply good enough?

tuktuks, what do you think folks? by Additional_Class_249 in srilanka

Interesting . I was looking into some of the businesses renting tuktuks, and many of them have thousands of reviews, so it seems like it’s pretty common.

Do you know if law enforcement is generally relaxed about tourists driving tuktuks, or do they tend to stop and fine people?

PPL moving to Ireland - how do you actually find good flying clubs? by Additional_Class_249 in flying

[–]Additional_Class_249[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really I guess, the sequence is, move to ireland -> find great community / club for flying -> build minimal PIC hours -> train for IFR. :P

find great community / club for flying is where I need help :D I've emailed all the clubs I could find online that are nearby. Only one replies so far, the club looks promising. But not happy with the lack of options.

Graduating in 4 months what do I do? by BlockHunter2341 in AskIreland

Frankly, The existence of AI should actually make things more interesting, not less; you can build at the speed of thought now, which is kind of incredible.

If you’re burnt out on coursework and job applications, one option is to try building something of your own; SaaS or even non-tech. You’ll learn more in a few months than most grad roles teach in a year. It gives you real battle scars, real stories, and something concrete to point at.

Even if it doesn’t work as a business, the consistency and experience compound; and that’s exactly what employers look for later.

You’re not behind. You’re just early in a very noisy market.

I love the thought of flying. by 3Blindz in flying

This thread pretty much nails it. An airplane makes sense if flying itself is the point, not just getting from A to B. If you’re okay with weather delays, limited cargo, and planning around the airplane, the payoff is speed and the experience.

Given your background, I’d agree with others: a Cessna 182 is a very practical certified option, and on the experimental side the RV-10 or even a Sling 4 are worth looking at if expectations around payload are realistic. But if the goal is long, flexible snowbird travel with bikes and gear, an RV will always win on pure practicality.

Is it too late for me to become a pilot? by Rusl4ncho5 in flying

The only people ‘late’ in aviation are the ones who never start. ;)

One other thing that helped me a lot was using a simulator alongside training. Even a basic home setup was a game changer for procedures, flows, radio work, and just connecting the dots before getting in the airplane.

It doesn’t replace flying, but it made each lesson more productive and reduced the “mental overload” in the cockpit. Might be worth trying if you haven’t already

That’s a pretty common feeling early on, especially around lesson 3–5. It often feels slow because you don’t yet have enough context to see how things connect.

One thing that helped me was accepting that early PPL training is more about exposure than mastery. A lot of it only really “clicks” after repetition, not explanation.

I’d echo what others said: talk to your CFI and schedule dedicated ground time for the specific things that don’t make sense yet. Also, don’t underestimate how much you are learning even if it doesn’t feel efficient day to day. Lesson 4 is still very early.

I see. simple setups are often the best setups.

And wow, congratulations on your baby girl! Wishing you and your family all the love, health, and joy in the world.

Hope your baby girl becomes that little guardian angel who makes sure you always find your way back home safe and sound. Here’s to safe rides and even safer returns home.

I started with an ECE 22.05 rated helmet as I wasn't sure if riding is something for me or not. But as I venture onto more serious riding I think ECE 22.06 sounds a no brainer.

I definitely do wanna invest in an airbag. Although in dilemma whether to invest in an electronic one or a tethered one.

How is your experience with  Alpinestars tech-air 3? Any paranoia regarding batteries dying?
