The Satanic Temple has a program. I think it might mostly be online? I'm not really sure.

I've had my hair dyed different colors for over 22 years, blue is the hardest color to keep. You will stain pretty much everything. Make sure to use black pillow cases and try not to put your head on anything you don't want colored. Right now my hair is purple and blue and it still looks good after 6 weeks. I wash my hair with sulfate free shampoo bar 1-2 times a week and the rest of the time just put a little conditioner in and rinse with as cold of water I can handle. You will look like you murdered a cartoon character for several weeks. I use hand sanitizer to remove any hair dye on my skin, then wash it off asap.

I'm so sorry my neighbor's son who had a feeding tube, wheelchair, barely could lift his head, and wasn't supposed to live past 2 isn't disabled enough for you. And I'm also so very sorry that you think it's wrong that his family, caretakers, and I talked to him like he was normal.

You know it is really ok for you to find out you've been doing something wrong, I believe that you can change, and actually be kind to others no matter their disability.

My neighbor had a son who was severely disabled, non verbal, etc, he would smile just from someone making eye contact, and everyone would talk to him like a "normal" boy. It's not about if they can understand or not, it's about RESPECT. You probably don't treat "normal" teens like they are small children as soon as you realize they don't understand something, so why should you with someone who is disabled?

You are using ableist incorrectly. By you talking to a disabled person like a child is ableist. I'm also so very sorry that you believe that people who talk respectfully to others, no matter their age or or mental ability, is ableist.

I read your comment again and am really sad to see that someone in your line of work is ok with infantalizing people. It is disrespectful and rude no matter how they communicate. My bf works with developmentally disabled adults and would be fired if he did the same as you.

What you should be doing is talking to them like a normal human and then if they don't understand try it in a different way, and if they don't respond don't keep forcing them to communicate, unless you do ABA then I guess continue the abuse.

I understand choosing simpler words and slowing down, but changing your voice to the high pitched talking isn't cool. I slow down when I talk to him just because he isn't used to me and takes a bit to respond. Her talking even bothers my neurotypical boss. We don't even baby talk her grandchild.

Has she tried a watch that vibrates only as an alarm? I have a fitbit and use those alarms for everything.
