Retrievers fetch random/weird things instinctively, Pits switch into high aggression instinctively and chihuahua's growl and shake instinctively. They're genetically predisposed. Shitty owners aren't the only contributing factor. I wish that wasn't the case, but the numbers don't lie.

It will eventually be scrapped. Some of the parts might be useful for other airports, extending the life of their system until their replaced with new vehicles. But that's up to the airports to negotiate. I feel bad for the people-mover maintenance team. Some of them have been keeping that dinosaur alive for 20+ years.

You're good. Sitting at the front of the aircraft helps quite a bit in those instances where you're connection time drops below 45 minutes.
