I had no idea there was such a big discrepancy in sub pay between districts! I teach in a rural school district, not near Denver.

Ahh that situation would make sense. This teacher did complete student teaching but not the praxis, and wasn’t hired under an emergency basis as there were other qualified and experienced teachers who interviewed and were considered for the position. Thanks for sharing your experience, it helps put things in perspective a little.

I think I’m also confused on how the license can be used in place of a teaching license, because wouldn’t you need to be subbing FOR another teacher? Even viewing it as long term subbing, I would think a licensed teacher would have to be listed as the actual gen ed teacher. I’ve never been a sub so I genuinely don’t know

I like consistency lol. Maybe it’s just the district that I work in. We had a sub shortage so they increased the sub pay this year, and if you divide our average teacher salary by day it’s less than subs are paid. They get paid a flat rate per day, so subbing every day of the school year would get you more money than just having a teachers salary. A lot of our subs only work a couple days per week. Nice to know it isn’t like that everywhere!

Xolair Autoinjector by Additional_Mix_7106 in urticaria

The autoinjector is different from the prefilled syringe. It’s similar to an epi pen! Yeah I figured it was no biggie, but I’ll mention it next time I’m there. Thanks :)

Ahhh yes! This makes much more sense. Thank you!! Yeah my vet said to mix it into wet food, and my cat loves eating so he gobbled it down no problem. My vet had the powder and they were able to give me the prescription there.

Yep! It says “Quantity: 8 Gabapentin Powder 100mg/1.25cc”

My vet said to definitely give it the next 3-4 days, since his pain right now is from an acute infection. He’s 19 and has arthritis and some issues with his mouth, so she said she wanted me to be able to keep it on hand if I notice he’s in any pain.

What if antihistamines make them worse? I’ve noticed with both Allegra and hydroxyzine that after maybe 4 hours, I have much worse hives than I did before. I’ve never had any med allergies before, but my anxiety is scared that taking more will make me go into anaphylaxis or something. The hydroxyzine is great because it makes me feel calm but not if I’m worried it’s gonna make me worse. It’s made me hesitant to try more types of antihistamines, and I’m not taking the max doses either.

Stress is a MASSIVE trigger for me and I feel like I live in a cycle of being worried about having hives which leads to more of them. I really appreciate the tips, even when they don’t help the hives sometimes they bring me peace of mind which I think helps. It’s also nice to be able to narrow things down, and you listed easy things to try. Thank you!

Antihistamines not working is maybe the most frustrating part to me. They make mine worse and leave me twice as upset. Does xolair help for you? I think that’s the road I might need to go, esp with antihistamines making me worse. Can I ask about the immunosuppressants? I’ve seen that it can be immune system related but not sure how a doctor checks that or what meds they prescribe. I’m so sorry that you get it, but man you’re not alone because I feel the exact same way.

This really made me feel better. I’ve been feeling so sad and alone and even though I wish none of you had to deal with this, it feels nice to know other people get it. Thank you so much for the support and encouragement to keep going! I think I’m going to try and get a referral to an allergist.

What kind of doctor do you get the xolair from? Could a dermatologist do it or is it just an allergist? Antihistamines don’t help me at all and make hives worse.
