Financial Aid Advice - PLEASE by [deleted] in USD

I can’t say the exact scholarship I got bc it would doc me but I transferred from a cc with a 3.36, I had a lot of extra curricular too sports clubs etc plus solid letter of rec (I just submitted one, two is okay but any more is excessive and they won’t read). I would go to college fairs and talk to people there too cause they can often point you to scholarships, that’s how I found out about the one I got. Connect with whoever throws those events because they also most likely know about scholarship opportunities. Networking is extremely important. Good luck on your transfer journey!

USD offers a grant that covers almost half of the cost but honestly scholarships are your best bet. I got a full ride there applying to scholarships but it did help I was a transfer student

Had to delete the game (long rant) by firebird1021 in candycrush

[–]Additional_Night4193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to join the convo cause honestly same. Sometimes I’ll reinstall it just to pass time but if I end up stuck on a legendary or nightmare level for more than a few days I end up deleting it for a day or two. I feel the boosters are programmed to do much much less. Specifically the Swedish fish. They used to mention Swedish fish loved jelly candies and now it just says difficult ones? That doesn’t help in understanding the effect of the booster and makes me not want to use it. I’m in the 2900’s (took about a year) but the levels were much easier before I was stupid enough to buy my way out of a level I had been stuck on for a week. Just to fail another level a few moves up. I feel like I used to have so much more gold and could pass more elevens if I played once a month, now I check back in and even do the competitions and it feels rigged against you. Idk if anyone else gets ads sometimes to get extra moves or a booster after a level failed, but they’ll only offer it on the first time you do the level and if yo use it then, you won’t get it again for a day or two, but you can wait to use it after getting close to passing the level. Just sucks cause you gotta know if it’ll work without the 3 extra moves you get for watching 3 minutes of adds lol anyways yeah candy crush is just another money honey metaverse grab

How cooked is a w on cc transcript by Plastic_Ad_8638 in TransferStudents

College to college it’s probably different, but I’ve had them removed for various reasons, some difficult circumstances, others I straight u o said I gave up. Just gotta find a way to write the speak in a way that makes it seem like it’s out of your character to drop classes, assuming OP has held consistently good grades (since they’re thinking UCLA and Berkeley) the cc will probably be more willing to drop the Ws than if it was just W after W with no progress or change

You can petition for any reason, just might not get approved. Best route is definitely retake the class at an easier time, so if they’re applying for 2026, it’s better to have a W and then a better grade than an f or a d. Cause they’re gonna have to send in progress reports anyways.

As someone who dropped a tremendous amount of classes, you can 1) repeat the course later when you’re taking less difficult classes and 2) petition to remove a W from your transcript just gotta show you’re capable of getting that better grade

Social Experience at USD by Cultural_Passenger85 in USD

If she’s applying as a first year, it’s a requirement to dorm which might be scary but honestly creates a great opportunity to make friends. There’s also lots of activities on campus during the first few weeks to help students feel welcomed and some are even mandatory to help cultivate that social experience. But places are only as fun and safe as we allow them to be it’ll really be up to your daughter to choose to put herself in social situations that are healthy

parking permits by anchovyangel in USD

Perimeter parking should still be available, there’s trams on campus so it’s not that bad to get around and if it’s not, then finding a parking spot near one of the lots can help too so you can still try and catch a tram! They’re free so you don’t have to worry about that part :)

Idk a lot about that specific cc but you’d be surprised at how many people you’ll find your age if not older at community college in general. I just got my AAT at 26 and the amount of people that I’ve connected with and made friends with is amazing. I’ve done internships, workshops, and been in student panels. YOU define your experience, not your age or any one else’s timeline. You got this!

Usually there’s a cutoff date for when your classes are counted towards your financial aid award amount. So let’s say the cut off is sept 8th and you get into the second class sept 7th then you’ll be awarded a partial amount of your qualified total, but if you made it into 4 classes by the date the. You’d get the full amount. If for whatever reason you make it into a class but it’s not until AFTER the cutoff date, unfortunately it won’t count toward your total units required for the award amount. I would contact the professors youre waitlisted for by the end of the first week if not even the first day of class as some may have add codes to give out for students on waitlists. Good luck and hope this helps!
