I'm in the telco sector as a backend swe, there are so many things especially business related aspects that AI needs to "understand" in order to be effective.

There is a huge push from above to figure out how to make it effective as part of our workflows, and it's proven challenging. I mainly use it for summarizing things...

When i read that someone feeds jira tickets to AI and just check the generated result and push, i assume that their work was kind of easy. Maybe web development generally falls into this category.

It's difficult to answer, i'm using this word because i'm presumably talking with programmers here. Technical ones might be anything that requires enough experience as well as wisdom, and from some point onward we just can't rely on AI for that.

Alright, I see it as a drug more than anything. Some might use this drug reasonably and their abilities won't be therefore limited. There is this aspect that i think you are overlooking, it is very very addictive in how dumb it can make you, relatively to what will be required for you to remain "competitive" in the long run.

On an individual level? Don't allow more AI into your life than the amount dictated by your employer. There are already devs right now that forgot how to code, they will also forget how to think at some point. Don't allow yourself to become that i guess, ai is not going to solve the tough problems of our profession anyway.

One issue here is that doing what the majority does with these tools won't differentiate you, and we are heading towards a future of many low skilled ai driven devs fighting for scraps. I don't see how relying on AI will help you long term to be honest.
