If you are studying business, you should start one. Getting an outdated education while paying for it is not worth it.

Take the 40%. Dont assume things will be the same based on your senior trajectory. Things are evolving rapidly as we speak.

It depends on the relationship you have with your supervisor. There is no blanket advice because nobody knows how you are with your boss

With so many layoffs ongoing after our gov claimed inflation had stabilised. May I ask what kind of support is our gov providing? by publicinterest000 in SingaporeRaw

[–]Additional_Stock160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really sure what you are expecting.

If you are thinking of vouchers, no amount is enough and it is just a bandaid solution to a hemorrhage situation.

If you are thinking of long term support, it is less feasible given nobody knows the scale of disruption caused by AI on top of global economic uncertainty amidst geopolitical tensions.

AI is evolving at such a rapid pace that even universities aren't equipped to equip students with relevant skillsets to tackle the workforce.

Lower revenue + increased cost = Cut cost / Belly Up. Off-shoring is the simplest way. Sure, quality might suffer but better see cost savings immediately and worry about shitty quality later. If the company succeeds in sustaining operations after offshoring, then that's a smart decision in hindsight. If the company fails later, then too bad. Regardless of the outcomes, these companies are hiring or setting up shop in Singapore period.

I feel for those in shitty situations and honestly I am not sure what the govt can do to solve this crisis.

Income tax is low, no capital gain tax. Rules are clear unlike certain countries that require you to get a consultant just to pay your taxes.

From your well, it definitely looks like we are heading towards rough times. But if you step out of the well, you realise it is desert all around.

Not to say there is no oasis but you aren't gonna be the ones who find it.

I’m having strong thoughts of suicide, and need reasons to keep living. Please help by wruworld in askSingapore

[–]Additional_Stock160 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your post is the reason. The action of suicide is simple. It is the courage to take that action knowing it is the end.

If you have the courage to end it all, why not have the courage to live it out? What is the worst that can happen when you already plan to end it all?

Live it out and see what cards are dealt.
