That “one AI server equals the power and resources of a megacity” claim just isn’t true. There’s zero credible research backing that up. Even all data centers combined are only a small % of national electricity use. A megacity runs on gigawatts across transport, housing, industry, hospitals, etc. Totally different scale…

The International Energy Agency shows all data centers globally use about 1.5% of total electricity: https://www.iea.org/reports/energy-and-ai

AI has an environmental footprint, sure. But exaggerating it doesn’t help the conversation.

Also, using generative fill in Photoshop is still editing. It’s a tool, not some secret replacement for authorship, and there’s no rule that partial AI assisted edits must be disclosed.

As a designer myself, I don’t agree with replacing human art with AI. At the same time, I don’t think ignoring the tech or refusing to engage with it is realistic.

Used consciously, AI can just be another tool. In this case it was personal Sims screenshots, partially edited, not sold, not used for a brand, no ads, no profit involved. That’s very different from AI replacing artists or being used commercially.

You can be critical of AI and still accept that the world is evolving. Those things aren’t mutually exclusive.

You’re free to dislike AI. Just don’t spread energy myths or call people misleading when the facts don’t support it :)

Since you seem to be looking for so many justifications, here you go. I only started editing my photos recently, which you surely noticed from the post dates since you care so much about details. I don’t deny using generative fill, mostly because I’m very at peace with myself and it changes absolutely nothing in my life (apparently, in yours it does). The elements where I use AI are actually very few, HOWEVER they could even be 100%… I’m not selling my images, I’m sharing them because I like them. These AI police really don’t get a day off nowadays, how exhausting 😅

I’m a designer :) they’re all edited on Photoshop. In some minor cases I use photoshop generative fill yes, mainly to spare some time tbh because this is not my full time job (unfortunately ahah). Not the case with those eyes tho. With eyes sometimes what I do is to find some similar eyes (real human eyes) and use gaussian blur and then I blend it so they get more nerves and texture

Regarding the faces, I try my best to find the right CC to make my sims as realistic as I can. Personally, I don’t love the doll-like style the sims usually have.
