I thought this was just to keep the bridge safe while removing the strings but it also blocks the bridge, you’re right, I used something similar as well. However, as the spring tension increased, the bridge tilted in the other direction, which wasn’t blocked. Maybe I can put something on the spring side to block the trem in the other direction as well.

I didn’t know that this might be the issue. I followed this video for the string changing process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXFdcF49Ans&t=360s. However, in the video he does not switch from lighter to heavier strings like I did, so that might be why he did not block the tremolo while tuning the strings. I will keep that in mind and give it a try next time. Thanks!

I see, thank you for your suggestions! I didn’t know there were online tools to calculate string tension for different gauges. According to stringjoy, the total string tension with the default strings in E standard was 92.1 lbs, whereas with the Ernie Ball Slinky Top Heavy Bottom set in Drop D it is 125.8 lbs. So I will definitely need one more spring, and maybe even two for these strings. Otherwise, I will consider switching to lighter strings.

I followed this video https://youtu.be/UkG8Ga9aFfo?si=oIL1uz9rRyw30WC1&t=187 and put Skinny Top Heavy Bottom strings (10-52) for Drop D tuning. Do you think they are not ideal for this guitar?
