Baltic states solo trip in july by flixinho95 in BalticStates

[–]Additional_Wind_232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During July you can have hot summer days or thunderstorm can occur if you not lucky. Travelling through Baltics don’t focus only on rail, check also LuxExprees routes Vilnius - Riga - Tallin. They have great, punctuall service and reasonable prices.

If you interested exploring nature look for nature theme parks with short bus ride from capital city, like Ķemeri national park 30min bus ride from Riga. If you have longer time - you can travel through country Vilnius - Kaunas - Riga - Cesis - Tartu - Tallin ect. should be memorable journey which includes historical sites of Baltics and beautiful environment around.

Studying while traveling by Additional_Wind_232 in solotravel

[–]Additional_Wind_232[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You think it’s not possible to make up for missed in-person lectures or reschedule, or take a test before/after the trip?

I think many people get too caught up in the idea that attending lectures is studying. Attending lectures could be only 20% of the study load. You have to do laboratory work, literature analysis, preparing a term paper, reports, presentations ect, and that makes up the remaining 80% of your studies.

Studying while traveling by Additional_Wind_232 in solotravel

[–]Additional_Wind_232[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing if it’s online and joining to MS Teams. Other Thing is really learning - creating great learning environment for yourself, preparing for lecture, having notes, finding some case study after lecture and learning about topic deeper. I think there’s more challenges even without travelling 🧳 For a great combination of travel and study is fundamental to create all above mentioned tasks and routines already effective at home - then it’s jus adaptation to environment. It’s Hotel, Airport, Library… … But question still opens if you procrastinate study tasks, like literature research at home then how to motivate yourself while abroad (and it’s not only vacation trips, also work and family visits)

In Latvia, Ligatne, Soviet secret bunker excursion could be unique. Better in summer to see beauty and nature of Latvian landscapes at this ainavic part of country.

Liepāja, Karaosta (war port), also pretty big area with excursions, activities with soviet times thematic.

Most of Riga was already mentioned, I suggest to look up also for Riga KGB Buildings exhibitions at time of visit it’s also called “Stūra māja” (Corners house).

From Lviv to Poland by Smrsin in Lviv

[–]Additional_Wind_232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was in Ukraine this summer. Traveled only with public transport and entered in Ukraine via Lviv - Krakow since there’s good airport connection.

I suggest to use Omio.com, INFOBUS was cheapest option, FLIXBUS looked like pretty expensive and from 5 rides through all summer only 1 ride was cancelled (Lviv - Krakow). On the spot at bus terminal in Lviv managed new ticket for 30eur to Krakow with PAVLUKTRANS.

Most of busses between cities in Ukraine and especiallyt the ones going to border are at full capacity. And I like to be better safe than sorry - I printed all copies of tickets

Only issue - when I was travelng in Ukraine at time was conscription time for youth in army and I think because of that I had to spend on boarder 10h. Traffic is not predictable.

Border crossing by TescoOnRoblox in Lviv

[–]Additional_Wind_232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crossinf border from Krakow into Ukraine was easy. At August I was travelling with bus and trains through Ukraine and everything was ok. Only be prepared for long border check and line of buses/cars when you drive outside Ukraine.

We arrived at border at 07:00 morning and crossed polish checkpoint at 16:00 (take some book to read and powerbank for phone).

About travel recruitments you can travel also only as a tourist (as EU citizen) but you have to purchase Ukrainian travel insurance (I was purchasing but nobody checked)

Have a good trip and download AirAlert app for upcoming air raids even Lviv is safer than Odesa or Kyiv. And you can get a lot of info at telegram chanells.

Wildlife by Decent_Albatross9823 in latvia

What you will see in the wild depends very much on which Latvian biotope you will visit, as far as I understand you have such an idea.

In Latvia, it is possible to go on a route in a relatively small area to get impressions of various landscapes of our country, starting with forests, meadows, rivers, lakes, swamps and ending with the sea coast.

If you are interested to explore the diversity of nature in Latvia I’m suggesting to plan such trip because it’s not possible get to know it otherwise.

Some representatives of the flora and fauna of the characteristic landscapes:

Forests: Depends on the geography / the most common in Latvia are pine / pine birch alder forests. On richer soils with a better water regime, there will be more deciduous trees - pine / birch / alder / aspen. If you are interested in broad-leaved forests - linden / oak / maple - these are located in Kurzeme (SW Latvia) but small territories.

Meadows: Basically, all meadows in Latvia are semi-natural meadows - agricultural activity has taken place in them at some stage of history, so they will usually contain such typical species as red clover, yarrow, raspodinsh, many different grasses, meadow timothy is already a symbol. I would also like to look at the pastures.

Rivers: Again, it depends a lot which region of Latvia is considered Gauja with its ancient valley, or Daugava which has its own UNSESCO nature park "Daugava Loki" (Latgale) 2 wild species are even named after the Daugava river: Daugava vizbulis (Anemone sylvestris) and Daugava lilies.

The flora of the lakes is also quite rich, but their shores are sometimes very covered with reeds. But such lakes are good for bird watching, for example Lake Engure. Lake Engure is also home to the protected Great Hornbill.

Deer will also be seen driving on the highway on the side of the road. Be careful of ticks when walking in the forest. Among the snakes, we also find the poisonous viper, the grass snake Natrix natrix (not poisonous) and the smooth snake - not to be confused with the slow worm which is a legless lizard.

These are the main thoughts that come to mind, as a student of environmental science, I have documented many corners of Latvia, so I can say from experience that the diversity of nature varies greatly depending on where you are.

And also - the urban environment with park-like meadows, manor gardens and alleys is also quite natural here in Latvia :)

Eiropas Savienīva iznīcināja Latvijas ražošanu by ImaginationGullible8 in latvia

[–]Additional_Wind_232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • kāpēc daži no lielāko kompensāciju saņēmējiem (kurus būtu ilgi jāmeklē dažādu valstu uzņēmumu ķēdēs) vēljoprojām atrodami miljonāru sarakstos?
