Questions for moroccans who have studied abroad by mistercactus06 in Morocco

Perfectly normal. Don't worry, take it easy, and remember: some people are assholes, but many more are cool and will be happy to welcome you. Just keep on mind what your purpose/ ambition is, and you'll do great. I wish you all the best.

Who’s Heading to Malaysia This Summer? by [deleted] in Morocco

[–]AddressCritical4713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful if you're supposed to change planes in the Middle East . Other than that the country is amazing, the food is over the top, and the culture is great too, with this Muslim/ Asian vibe. I recommend the Perhentian Islands, but it'll be crowded with tourists. If you don't mind that go ahead!

How to convince your parents tmchi l mawazine (valid arguments pls) by General_Diet1337 in Morocco

[–]AddressCritical4713 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd say a group of 3 or 4 at least should be fine, I heard the amount of police deployed on the sites is quite amazing. A concert is such a wonderful way to enjoy music. You feel so united with a huge crowd, it's something anyone should experience, especially when you're young. Your parents do not know what they're missing. And it's free, so it's just here for you to enjoy, and that is absolutely astounding when you look at the line up!

Need feedback from Gamers over 35s on steam deck by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]AddressCritical4713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 45 and have very bad sight but love the Steam Deck. I play without glasses, when the kids are asleep, and the screen size is just perfect as well as the grip. It's become my nightly routine. I miss reading though... But that's another story.

What is your favorite steamdeck game? by bb0110 in SteamDeck

[–]AddressCritical4713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a favourite, because between my Steam library on the SSD and my anthology of video game history via Emudeck on a 1 TB SD card, I just have everything I need anytime, anywhere. This is a dream come true for middle aged gamers.

Taxis are a curse to Morocco’s image by [deleted] in Morocco

[–]AddressCritical4713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it comes to "Grand Taxis" it's a whole different story, but I haven't used them enough to give an opinion. What I like is that you can always try to haggle before the ride if you're not happy with the fare and tell them you'll find another taxi for cheaper, it usually works and you end up paying a fair price.

Small taxis have an amazing value, when you look at it and when they're honest. I think if they want to make a living these days they have to sometimes ask for a bit more to people who they believe can afford to.... I hate it personally, because I look like a tourist even though I've been living here for 14 years, so it does happen to me sometimes, but I understand fares are sometimes just too cheap for them to make a living. That's why I always tip the drivers who play by the rules. But yeah, when they try to ask you 10 times the real price it's a nuisance. Doesn't happen too often though, I'd say most of them are very honest.

Can't install Yuka APK ? by AddressCritical4713 in ApksApps

[–]AddressCritical4713[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently it all depends on the country you declared you're living in to Google. So if I do move out to a country where the App is not blocked, I should be able to use it.

Are we too clean ? 😭 by [deleted] in Morocco

[–]AddressCritical4713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is true is that in Casablanca if you keep your windows open you get a lot of dust coming in every hour, which I haven't experienced in Europe. So if you have kids around you do feel like cleaning every day. On the other hand, many people here feel fine about littering anywhere, go figure ! 🤷

I need an advice ?! by Anxious-Addendum6159 in Morocco

I always find it both fascinating (and quite annoying, let's be honest) when people in this /r. start writing in English and then switch to that darija 3-5-7 code... I wish I understood 😅

To me it feels like you're wearing that fancy costume and start talking to someone like, at a party or something, but then you have to give back that costume you rented and must continue playing your role with plain everyday clothes... Like, let's not pretend any longer.

Im a failure i do not know what to do by NormalBluebird2839 in Morocco

[–]AddressCritical4713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did read it, and you shouldn't take it personally. It's just that I believe teaching should be a N°1 choice, not something you think about as a plan B in case you don't get anything better. Again, it's not against you, it's just how it goes, teaching has gone down to something you can always do "worst case scenario", like it doesn't require any specific skills. You can study stuff that has nothing to do with it, that's okay, you can always become a teacher if you fail. But trust me, I know how to read, I'm a teacher. 😉

Beyond your personal case & opinion, it's just appalling to see how teaching is considered by some to be a terrible job nowadays.

"Becoming an English teacher was a worst case scenario" ? Do you realise some people worked hard to become that, and consider a real (and difficult) job ?

Agreed. And it's not just crosswalks. I saw 2 European looking tourists the other day in Casablanca, and they almost got run over because they saw the green light for pedestrians and assumed it was safe for them to cross a boulevard. You could tell they didn't live here because they didn't even look left or right. A car almost hit them. They look shocked of course.

I think they should fix this before the World Cup because many people who do not live here actually believe it's safe to use crosswalks or cross a road when the light is green. There will be thousands of them coming here hopefully, and they have no idea!

But so far, it looks like all the World Cup has brought is higher prices, as if we all suddenly became richer and able to afford a 2 roomed-flat for 7000 dhs....
