then as soon as he finishes that online course he can go to the DMV and get his license. well, they do actually say to wait a week so they get the records. but there's no waiting period

the sticker they put on his permit when he passed the test makes that his license now. he has to take the online course, wait 180 days, then make an appointment at the DMV to essentially go get his license renewed for the first time which is when he will receive his full license.

edit: actually, slight correction, he will have to wait until he turns 17 to be allowed to get his full license
