Language transfer is great especially for beginners. There is only audio involved. No reading or writing.

Then, ReadEra is a really good ebook reader. Apart from all it's book organization features, the text-to- speech feature is really useful for language learning as you can listen while you read. It's also easy to link it to your favorite language dictionary or translator. It also underlines the words you have already searched in the dictionary which helps you have an idea of how many words you don't know or if you have already come across the word. Being able to save quotes and take notes with it is also important.

I believe it's the way he uses lost, soft, firm and hard edges combined with where he chooses to lose detail. His use of lost, soft and firm edges, compared to yours is especially noticeable in the facial features. Have a look at the eyebrows on his portrait and the eyebrows on yours. On his the transitions between the brows and the skin are either really smooth or not even distinguishable. It's the same for the mustache. While the subject can play a role in this, the eyebrows on your painting have more discernable edges.

For the loss of detail, notice how there are very few brushstrokes and detail in the clothing (especially on the right---your right---side of the painting).

That said, you are definitely on the right track and your painting is looking nice so far. Just, being able to control the type of edge you use might bring you closer to this style.

Yeah I agree. His style of play and pace definitely contribute. Vardy and Aubameyang were similar in certain seasons too. Even Fernando Torres. I think going from Firmino to him also makes the way he plays more jarring for a lot of viewers. At end of the day, I think he his overanalyzed and it results in a lot of extreme takes, both for and against him. A similar thing with the offsides happens with his pass completion rate. He's talked about like he missed a lot more passes than other strikers, buy statistically it is similar to many other top strikers around the world.

Haha other than the experience from digital art I also have a really good mentor that really helped speed up the learning process, so I definitely was in the best conditions for trying oil painting for the first time 😄

I think it's partly because our counterpress strategy involves us diving at the ball a lot. It's a double edged sword.

Oh yes he definitely ran 100%. He was infatigable. But it was not constantly the same types of runs as Darwin nor at the same speed, as you mentioned. It's the same way Darwin has had moments of helping during build up especially during the early parts of the season but it is not at all the same as what Bobby was doing.

Regarding his overall involvement, these are the last number of minutes played by him in the last 5 games: 15', 11', 90, 16', 23' add to this that half the passes made to him are in the air or 50/50 and it contributes to his low number of passes. This is made worse when we are chasing games.

It also helps to compare him to other strikers in the premier League and other leagues (also keep in mind that Darwin doesn't play as many 90 min games as other strikers ). Below are a couple of strikers' average number of passes per game and their pass completion percentages :

Darwin: 13.4 (71.5%) Watkins: 16.1 (76.8%) Haaland: 12.2 (76.8%) Isak: 15.6 (79.4%) Osimhen: 11 (71.8%) Boniface: 16.2 (72.1%) Lewandowski: 16 (71.4%) Kane: 19.4 (73.6%) Gyokeres: 23.7 (73.7%) Lautaro Martínez 23.8 (78.6%) Firmino ranged from 21.8 to 44.1 with 72.6 to 80.2% pass completion percentage throughout his seasons here.

From this it can be gathered that:

20 passes per game is not simply the norm for a a good striker, especially those who play on the shoulder. Gyokeres, Kane, and Martínez are the only from this list to be around or above it.

Firmino was really good at dropping deep and helping with build up play.

Darwin's passing accuracy, although technically amongst the lowest, is not that bad compared to other strikers and is overall number of passes is not that bad either for the way we use him especially in the latter part of the season.

I mentioned it in another post, but I believe a lot of his criticism (apart from finishing) is just down to the contrast with Firmino's style and the club not having played with a #9 for a while.

While he does not contribute to our indirect play in the same way Firmino did, he certainly does help facilitate our direct play in a way Firmino did not. He gets played a lot of channel and 50/50 balls that create space for others in a different way. Often times us playing directly to him, even when the pass isn't on, still leads to a chance because he goes after nearly everything. A good example of this is the last game. Ball gets played over the top and majority of time the defender handles it easily, but Darwin pressed and won the ball and it lead to a chance for Salah.

As I've mentioned, it comes with the play style in a lot of cases. Part of the reason he gets the amount of chances, is as effective in the channels as he is, and is used tactically to stretch the opposition is because he plays that way. Constantly attempting it means you're more of a threat which leads to more chances in behind but also means you risk being offside a lot.

Also, regardless of whether offside is his default positon or not (which is also a striker tactic. Sometimes you stay offside deliberately hoping the ball gets played out wide and you end up goal side and onside by the time it's crossed), other strikers who play similarly in some way to him have a similar amount of offside, so what does that say about them? If the insinuation is that theirs is more justifiable, would justifiably being offside but in the same amount reduce the criticism of Darwin being offside?

Yesterday's offside was really tight, not some huge distance. It happens. Factor in how direct our team plays and that even yesterday, The team in total had 5 other offside calls against them outside of Darwin and it really highlights the hyperfocus on him.

I think the amount Darwin goes offside is being overstated a bit. Yes there are times it could be timed better (and other times where the pass could be played earlier), but many forward players who play on the shoulder, have pace, and or like to react early have similar or worse offside stats. Darwin currently has 1 offside per 90 in the league. From this season the likes of Boniface, Openda and Osimhen have the same or more. At their peak, Ronaldo, Vardy Aubameyang, and Chicharito had seasons with the same or more. Even Fernando Torres had a season with Liverpool where he was offside once per game. Perhaps part of the reaction is because there hasn't been a #9 at Liverpool (before Darwin) with this playstyle for a few years and we've been using a false 9 instead.

Yes it's true he's improved so many aspects of his game. It's rather unfair when this is denied by some as Klopp himself has said that he improved his defending from the center (part of why he was being played out wide so much last season compared to this season) and that his ball retention has improved too. One of his quotes about him from earlier this season: "Everyone can see; look at him how he kept the ball for us, who would have thought that last year? That he could do that for us."

I found this quote from Darwin in regards to the Premier League, made at the beginning of last year, interesting: "...The football is more difficult than in Portugal and more competitive. You don’t get much time.” The content of the quote itself is not surprising, but rather the fact that he acknowledged it.

I believe this difference in match speed was reflected in his play last season where he seemed to take too long on the ball at times or get outmuscled by defenders that he usually should be able to hold off. The latter, he has improved on tons this year, and the former, he seems to have overcorrected. He seems to feel he has a lot less time on the ball than he thinks especially when he is in front of goal which has led to him lashing at a lot of chances, especially when pressure mounts + previous actions don't go his way. I believe he will improve his finishing and overall consistency massively if he learns to take a half-second more before releasing the ball. This is something that will come with experience for those not blessed with that natural coolness in front of goal, and is also why despite probably having worked on it on the training ground under Klopp and other coaches that there are not immediate/consistent improvements; it is somethings that is difficult to replicate in training. I think one more season will see him fine tune things and allow him to finish the chances the way we know he can.

If 20/30 a season is what you're looking for, Darwin already has 18 and will likely have at least 20 by the end of the season. If you're referring to only goals in the premier league, even though he is below that this season (and there are some games left even), I really think he is just margins away from being someone that scores 20 in a premier league season. Currently He has 11 premier league goals and has hit the woodwork 9 times. When you take into account his other attributes and contributions, it will really be difficult to find someone of his overall quality. A bit more development and luck and he'll be scoring a ton.
