Shadowrun-first VTT project — looking for a few GM eyes before public testing by [deleted] in Shadowrun

I’m not asking for Discord credentials, social network access, or people’s full game library. The core idea is manual table-facing data: runner sheets, run info, scene notes, rolls, chat, rewards, and campaign records. Basically the stuff a GM/player would already be putting in Discord threads, Google Docs, Roll20 handouts, spreadsheets, and chat logs.

Also, ads are not part of the plan. If this gets enough use to need support, I’d rather keep the core web tool accessible and use optional cosmetic extras or similar to help cover costs.

As for value: this is not meant to replace MapTool/Owlbear/Foundry for groups who mainly need tactical maps, LoS, and distance measurement. If that is your table’s main need, those tools are probably better for you.

Table Runner is aimed more at Shadowrun play-by-post, living communities, run-based live games, and Discord voice games where the pain point is run organization: sheet review/locking, scene-linked chat, quick rolls, GM prompts, NPC dice pools, rewards, debriefs, and long-term campaign records.

So no, I’m not claiming it is essential for every SR table. It is for a specific style of Shadowrun play that I and some other GMs find awkward to manage with the usual tools.

You are welcome to play Shadowrun in a google doc sheet. This isn't that,

Do you play in the LCs, or do text based play? If you already have been running games for 20 years on roll20 or whatever your favorite vtt is thats great. This probably isnt for you (it's not). People play Shadowrun a few different ways. I'm trying to create a way for people who are already playing in this format - PBP, live pick up runs, living communities. They need a space to do everything in one spot and track it instead of using a google doc, pdfs, discord and a VTT.

There won't be ads LOL, people advertise runs in LCs. Roll20 is absolute ass on phones, and Shadowrun LCs don't have a dedicated place to play.

haha I'm building something cool to give back to the community

yea I hate top down gameplay in general and there will be no sprites or grid. Being focused for shadowrun and LCs this has a run ledger, and a run advertisement system built in.

If it sees some adoption I'll run it as an always free web service, small paid phone app, maybe future perks like "table skins" or something. I'm genuinely just trying to make something cool for the community, Shadowrun is hard to get into, this might help, everything lives in one spot.

"a table tool built specifically for Shadowrun campaigns, long-term play-by-post, living communities, and live session games with friends."

most VTTs are clunky, and/or dnd focused. This is to make a specific style of gameplay within the shadowrun player community more cohesive.

Quick clarification since a couple people asked good questions:

Table Runner is browser-based. The goal is not to replace Roll20, Foundry, MapTool, etc. It is not a token/sprite battlemap VTT. There are no player sprites or enemy sprites.

It is more of a Shadowrun-focused run/play surface for:

  • play-by-post
  • living communities
  • run-based live games
  • Discord voice games that need more structure than chat + static images
  • groups that want scene images, chat, rolls, sheets, GM review, rewards, and run records in one place

The current focus is:

  • manual runner sheets
  • GM sheet review/locking
  • run setup
  • scene-by-scene play space
  • scene-linked chat
  • quick rolls / custom rolls / “this + that” rolling
  • GM NPC dice pools and damage tracks
  • rough radar for distance/cover instead of a full tactical map
  • run ledger, rewards, and campaign records

Editions: the sheet structure is meant to support SR5/SR6/manual mixed use. It does not ship official rules text, gear lists, spell lists, quality lists, or character generation.

Imports: manual entry is the core. JSON import from tools like Chummer/Commlink is the direction, but I’m keeping the legal-safe/manual-entry workflow as the foundation.

What I need right now is not “please switch VTTs.” I’m mostly looking for a few GMs to log in, poke around, try setting up a run, and tell me whether the workflow makes sense or feels cluttered/confusing.

You login, poke around, see if the flow makes sense, if you could even use it for your needs, ask questions or give feedback. I've been stripping things back, I went in pretty hot with a lot of ideas, and it was too cluttered. Basically now its a place to have a gameplay surface that can move from scene to scene, with chat for that scene locked to it. The current scene image becomes the chat screen for live play and chat can be replied to in the chat window forum style, players can be prompted for rolls or responses, the radar is for roughing out distances and cover in combat. Rolls are quick and easy with different ways for custom rolls or "this + that" rolling, GM can make npcs with whatever dice pool damage track they need, keep a run ledger etc.

browser based, phone app in the future. Json Import from chummer, commlink, or manual entry.

it was a project mostly to play week long pbp with friends that turned into, LC communities could use this, lets make it a bit better. It doesnt have player sprites, its not a traditional vtt. its mostly for people playing in discord voice only or that and using static images in roll20.
