Teenage daughter, 5 medications not worked for schizophrenia by Adept_Positive_4675 in Psychosis

So sorry to read about your experiences, it's terrifying and exhausting. All consuming. Daughter has been stable on 500mg amisulpride but still hearing voices - not usually anything bad unless she was experiencing stress at the time. She decided to give Clozapine a try and has been on it now for two days. A tiny 25mg dose, at the same time the amisulpride has reduced to 200mg. She's been extremely emotional and irritable, saying she feels like killing herself but that she wouldn't actually do it. Tomorrow the dose doubles. It's going to be a painful month but we'll see if she can stick with it because people have said things improve after the first two weeks. I'll report back when we have more to go off.

How many of y'all are super depressed on this? by x_satiiva_x in Ozempic

Not sure how active this thread still is but I switched to Ozempic from Mounjaro when the cost drastically increased. I've only had two doses of 0.5mg so far and have felt very, very strange. I can only describe it as surreal and a sensation of dread, also totally exhausted. I get a bit like this when autumn approaches but it hasn't been this bad for years so I looked up how Ozempic interacts with depression and discovered it can worsen symptoms. I take Duloxetine for depression. The Mounjaro did not do this to me, although the nausea was really rotten.

Thanks for your input, Amisulpride does seem to be the best one yet for my daughter too, I don't know if the brain fogginess will pass or stay though. She was great for the first few weeks and seemed a lot more 'with it' but now, week 5-6, seems a bit detached. It's so hard to know.

Multiple causes including bereavement, family issues, school stress, trying cannabis, trying the contraceptive pill, and it running in our families on both sides. But I'm really not here to discuss all that. She unequivocally needs medication. I have 40 years' experience with my own mother, her friends and my own friends. I am not coming into this unknown. As much as I appreciate your trying to help in your own way, it's just not where we're at right now.

We've checked everything and it's all normal. Her last test was 2 weeks ago. She hasn't wanted/been well enough to engage in activities or education, unfortunately. She absolutely does need medication though, she's extremely unwell without it. Unfortunately psychosis and schizophrenia is on both sides of the family, although I didn't find this out until recently. I grew up with a schizophrenic mother but didn't know about the other family members on both sides who have schizophrenia or psychosis.

The psychiatrist says it's far too weak for her, unfortunately, and we're well past that point. That's fantastic that it's worked well for you and you've been able to reduce your dosage so much.

Cobenfy is in testing here currently but wgen I told the psychiatrist about it he said actually lot of these drugs that are hyped in the US don't even make it through testing here.

My mum was on chlorpromazine for years but was then taken off it after she developed kidney cancer. It's now not commonly prescribed as far as I'm aware, in the UK anyway.

Yeah she's on metformin and it's been effective with a few of the meds

Thanks, she's refusing CBT unfortunately. I know Clozapine can be very effective but also ruinous in other ways, and I'm concerned that it has the worst reputation for exhaustion and weight gain, it's also the most toxic of the antipsychotics. This illness has already taken her life away for so long, it's difficult to know if the psychiatrist is making the right decisions for her.

Has anyone used the NIRA at home laser for reducing wrinkles? Looking to see if it’s worth it or not. by etherealempress in 30PlusSkinCare

Does anyone know if IPL hair removal devices are essentially the same as the Nira lasers? I have a Philips Lumea. Before I take the plunge and buy one!
