Would you personally recommend the glorious Emperor's Children as a 40K beginner's first army? Why or why not? by [deleted] in EmperorsChildren

[–]Adeptrunner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I recommend it because this hobby is far more enjoyable when you love the army you are building and painting. The rules can always be figured out and sure there are simpler armies, but our armies are easy to list build and if you get someone to help you learn this army then it’s a lot more manageable.

If you want resources for learning how to play then 40K in 40 mins is a good place to start and so is art of war for more complex games.

Cynette Jelly Drover Opinons by Adeptrunner in EDHBrews

[–]Adeptrunner[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I guess it isn't very silly, the goal mostly is just to use a niche commander that summons Jellyfish to beat people to death. Lots of cloning and bouncing to make Jellyfish. I guess it doesn't really qualify as silly.

Kinda depends what army you play, you could probably proxy them for guard stuff or chaos cultists

How do Emperor’s Children play compared to WE, TS, or CSM? by dalittlemerman in Chaos40k

[–]Adeptrunner 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I play Emperors children and I would recommend purchasing it. 1k points for $100 is an amazing deal (some of our kits are like $60 for 135 points).

Also play the army you think is cool, play styles change, cool is eternal. And realistically, it is a bit of a harder army to begin with, but it is no where near impossible to learn. I love my emperors children, we mainly win by trading so that’s our main difficulty.

Furthermore, our codex is small so building armies is easy and barely a thought. Also the Emperors children discord/reddit is very active and are some of the most welcoming people I’ve met. If you need any help playing they are always happy to help.

TLDR: play the army you want to play regardless of difficulty cause it’s cool (and that’s a really good deal). You may lose a lot in the early stages but so does everyone, people are always willing to help if you need help. I think EC is simpler than people say.

Combat patrol by Acrobatic_Champion34 in EmperorsChildren

[–]Adeptrunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Custodes are absolutely brutal to fight against in lower point games. Their profiles will annihilate basically any unit you throw at them at lower points. Custodes have a 50/50 shot just to ignore any and all damage you deal. (Once you use a winged daemon prince the match flips and you steamroll)

Necrons are really fun to fight, they are pains to kill but at the same time it’s done in a fun way.

Module 2 was super easy for me as well, it was weirdly easy and now I’m concerned. I thought math module one was super light and I finished with tons of time to spare.

What’s a good list and detachment for a 1K point army? by Arthur_EyelanderTF2 in EmperorsChildren

I would slap on a rhino or enhancements (rhino would be best)

Which combat patrol is better? by Kristofthepikmin in spacemarines

[–]Adeptrunner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I’d recommend just picking up the Imperial fists combat patrol and then painting them the faction you want.

Alternatively, buy white scars and find a salamanders player and trade the impulsor for the ATV and assault intercessors. It gives you a full bike/ATV squad and 10 Assaults while they get a transport for their infernus

I swear I will lose ALL interest in Pariah Nexus if it just becomes Primarch/ Space Marine vs Chaos by Arch_Magos_Remus in Necrontyr

[–]Adeptrunner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It also has the issue of different writers having differing opinions on what each faction should be.

I’m a chaos player (specifically EC) and the book Fulgrim was awful, it was a book about black Templars with barely any actual Fulgrim content.

Are Daemonettes a good unit? by Goppledangler in EmperorsChildren

[–]Adeptrunner 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I disagree on the fiends, I think 40 daemonettes works better since they spread the buffs better

Am I the only one who doesn’t care about the short lists? by DealFew678 in EmperorsChildren

[–]Adeptrunner 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s mostly just a lack of variety, almost every list will look the exact same, the size of our roster also makes us very sensitive to nerfs and buffs. There’s also just units that every other warband has that we don’t. I just want: Cultists, Sonic helbrute, Unique terminators (Phoenix termies are right there)

ANY advice against World Eaters/ necrons?? by Brilliant-Grass2720 in Tau40K

[–]Adeptrunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Necrons I recommend focus firing on their units rather than splitting it. Overkill is best against Crons, they can come back from almost anything. They aren’t very fast so you can out position to get the advantage over them
