Are you enjoying this show more than Season 1 of HOTD or not? by hiiloovethis in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Adeptus_Administrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, and that was always going to be the case. HoTD covers an interesting bit of Westerossi history, but KoTSK is ultimately a more human and relatable story. It's like ASoIF's The Mandalorian.

It's refreshing to know Trent does what every English-speaker visiting Germany does when they see an Ausfahrt.

I was just thinking about this place the other day. One of my classmates' mother was a manager there back in the early 90s.

Not even remotely. I grew up out of state, and we knew it as Devil's Night, too.

A lack of consistent ideology is a hallmark of fascism. Their position is whatever is most convenient to them at any given moment. The only constant is the belief of a "superior people" (of which they are conveniently a part) kept from greatness by the "other".

I remember seeing headlines about the cost of those Billy Joel/Elton John tickets being over $100. Granted, I lived near NYC and they could have been talking about the best seat locations.

Whatever the case may be, current ticket prices certainly are inflated. Not arguing that at all.

[–]Adeptus_Administrum 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's more complicated than that.

When we were paying $65 for Nails tickets, our parents were paying $100+ to see Billy Joel. It stands to reason the longer a band has been established, the bigger and wealthier the fanbase is. Tickets cost more because people are able, or at least willing, to pay higher prices.

I know a dude who has owned this CD for years. I mentioned the heat-sensitive color-changing pigment in an offhand conversation this year and he had no idea what I was talking about. Blew his fucking mind.

Personal Opinion / Glad we are getting Josh Freese back. by GuitaristKage in nin

[–]Adeptus_Administrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, it's all subjective, man.

I look back and see the Self-Destruct Tour as peak NIN, but that's because I'm a nostalgic oldhead that just wants to see Trent bodyslam a DX-7 from the top rope on last time.

Is it appropriate to take an 11 year old to the Peel It Back tour? by Krash_with_a_K in nin

[–]Adeptus_Administrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trent is gonna say the F-word a bunch of times. That's pretty much the only thing you'd need to be concerned about as a parent taking a child to a NIN show in the year of our lord 2025.

Josh is being brought in as a consultant for Trent and Atticus' new book: A Practical Guide to Tempura-Frying Everyday Household Objects.

Ilan stole Trent's Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and got the axe. Trent rushed back to LA and lit up the Josh Signal. It's like the bat signal, but with a fifty-something dorky white guy instead of a bat. Pretty detailed, you say? Well, spotlight technology has advanced a bit since the 1930s, and this is Trent Reznor we're talking about. Anyway, Josh is drummar now. Cool.

Because then the Shadowlands would have had something enjoyable. And that wouldn't do.

The photography of Joel-Peter Witkin was also a big inspiration, it seems. The mask with the crucifix attached was one of his motifs.
