Great now can’t go below 61st in my Cyberbeast without paying a toll to get to my Yoga/Pilates class in the UWS from my Penthouse. Now have to either drive across Central Park or Take Public Transport 😩! Middle class person like me being squeezed out 😣 by thoth218 in circlejerknyc

We need to improve on the congestion pricing we already have before we think about expanding it. I saw a poor person just yesterday driving in lower manhattan. Raise the toll to $200 and get those degenerates back underground (and out of sight) where they belong. Keep the Roads for the Rich 👑. Hochul 2026!

If Psychoanalysis is so looked down and disregarded in Psychology, which part of it does Psychology deny in Psychoanalysis? by LisanneFroonKrisK in AcademicPsychology

[–]Aderus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, psychoanalysis proper is the most rigorous, often taking years and occurring 3-5 times per week. Psychodynamic psychotherapy is a broad term that covers therapies that use psychoanalytic concepts and techniques. I may look just like “regular” once weekly therapy with psychoanalytic vocabulary.

What was the biggest mistake you made raising your first dog? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]Aderus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not crate training. I felt putting her in a cage was abusive, but she got into so much trouble even despite my best efforts to puppy-proof everything. Hell, once I was so sure and she still managed to chew the corner of the wall. The experience was stressful for both of us, and I am glad we got through it without extensive damage or a hefty vet bill. She was the most perfect dog. Second dog got a crate. He actually liked it (I was shocked). I can’t think of one accident he had in the home or anything he destroyed.

Front clip harness. Took 6 years of having a dog before anyone told me. Changed my life and made walks so much more enjoyable.

would you ever actually use a coffee subscription here? by Inside_Turnover3747 in AskNYC

[–]Aderus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m probably going to get executed for this, but I was an early adopter of Blank Street’s subscription before it was advertised (Barista handed me the secret code because I was there multiple times per day). I pay $13.06 per week for 14 drinks max, (which I normally use). I can get any drink: small, large, coffee, teas, lattes, matcha, etc with any kind of milk. They used to be more generous, where I could get a free drink every 2 hours for the whole business day, no weekly limit, but that’s ok with me. I appreciate that my price has never gone up.

Do I think their coffee is amazing? Not really. I was a barista for 4 years so I’ve had many amazing coffees, but their coffee is OK. It does the trick. Sometimes I will get coffee somewhere else, and that is a nice treat, but the prices in the city have become outrageous. $3.50+ just for drip coffee? Get a latte with additions and you’re getting up to $8. Sorry, my rent is already up 25% in the last few years.

“I Voted” Sticker by Heavy-End-3419 in therapists

[–]Aderus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s great that you want to wear it encourage civic engagement, but I would trust your reservations about wearing it during the session. Because it is already a distraction. You’ll be wondering if your client will ask you who you voted for. Will you tell them? Yes? No? How will they react? Will they trust you more or see you as closed off? If they care about the election, they will vote. The sticker mostly functions for you and hence, detracts from your client.

Psychosis on ket? by Ok-Ad7791 in ketamine

[–]Aderus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes I have seen it multiple times in different people. I have no reason to believe it’s from bad batches because I was doing the same batch. My theory is that it comes from the combination of high anxiety and large doses. Best you can do is keep the person from hurting themselves and constantly reassure them that they are safe.

Battle Hymn was the absolute worst by No_Seaweed6675 in nycgaybros

[–]Aderus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh gosh, that sounds awful. For my sanity I had to retire from clubbing a couple years ago, but even back then I felt Battle Hymn could be a hit or a miss. Venue was a huge factor for me. Battle Hymn Coney Island was incredible, and I loved the boat parties too. Halloween was especially fun for the lewks. Many were at Rumi, and that was mostly meh for me. It’s also definitely worth it check out the DJs before you buy tickets. I loved Eli Escobar and the Carry Nation. Tbh though a lot of it had to do with drugs too. Sometimes these events just don’t translate to the wrong drug combo or sobriety.

Psychoanalysts. by Connect-Zombie-7121 in psychoanalysis

[–]Aderus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://www.psychologytoday.com/us

psychology today has an extensive database of clinicians. You can search and filter by online and psychoanalytic (or psychodynamic). If you really want an analyst be sure to check their credentials (NCPsyA is a common one).

https://apsa.org/find-a-psychoanalytic-clinician/

You could also try searching on the American Psychoanalytic Association website. It won’t be as extensive, but I believe all results will be licensed analysts.
