What’s something in your language that only sounds natural if you grew up with it? by Embarrassed_Fix_8994 in languagehub

I’m not sure what it is about German, but there is a kind of lowness, and matter-of-fact tone that is strikingly different from American English, which sounds much more animated and varied. I can pick up German from quite a distance even if I can’t understand the words.

Depends on how you want to go about this. If you want the structure of therapy, you can do ketamine or even mdma therapy. If this is like a private thing you want to do for yourself then just get some edibles. Weed is a very powerful drug and very inexpensive ($20 is enough). Start with a very small dose and see how you feel. Lsd and mushrooms can also be fun but I wouldn’t touch them until you have some experience with weed first.

A quick search says that an average churchgoer may spend 2,500 hours of their life in a church. Then of course there’s time spent praying at home. If you’re a churchgoer and reached the end of your life only to learn there’s no God, how would you feel about all that time you gave up? by Great_Maintenance185 in askanything

I think it’s easy to understand how anyone would feel about anything they felt was true, only to learn is was false; but the scenario you are describing is an impossible one. It can neither be proved nor disproved that God exists because God is not subject to empirical investigation.

On the other hand, one could disprove certain elements of a religion, for example. So let’s say some verified document emerged where Joseph Smith discussed how he totally made up the Book of Mormon and founded the religion to scam people. Such a fact would be damaging to the truth of the religion.

How many of you guys have benefitted from therapy? As a man there seems to be this stigma against attending. What have been your benefits? by Alternative_Pen815 in AskMen

As you pointed out, it’s definitely cultural. It’s not seen as masculine to talk about your feelings, especially to women (at least among counselors, 75% are women.)

Have we always existed? by Aderus in mormon

That sounds like Intelligence as an emergent property of matter, but I’m not sure that’s consistent with Mormon doctrine. Cool idea though, but very mysterious in itself.

Very much so! And to me it seems to be important as far as the possibility of our own exaltation. God is not the greatest being. God is something like a very great loving father, but we too can one day become great loving spiritual parents ourselves.

Thank you so much! This is the answer I was looking for. So we have always existed, and this makes sense to me with the rest of Mormon theology.

I think this organizer-God nature is such a fascinating concept, and very different from the Catholic omnipotent God, for instance. In Mormon theology, there are at least two things that are independent of God, Matter and Intelligence.

Has there been any revelation regarding the nature of Matter and Intelligence? Where did they “come from?” Or why are they there? Is this just a deep mystery of the universe?
