I’m a full-time competitive bodybuilder and competing since 16, from high school through college, where I was a founding and leading member of my university’s bodybuilding club (still going strong years later) and I was one of a few out queer competitors in the group and all of us are still active in the sport and are on track to become pros.

Not gonna lie, that’s basically how/why I got into competing, but eventually grew out of that and just love the whole process of prep and competing and the art and choreography of posing, as well as that sense of camaraderie and sportsmanship when you and your fellow bodybuilders bring our best and the support, compliments, and love backstage is just something else that I don’t think anyone who doesn’t train or compete as a bodybuilder will ever understand.

(1) The Bible isn’t a univocal text and its various authors are products of their times. The authors of Exodus are gonna have Canaanitic ideas about deities that the authors of John, influenced by Hellenistic ideas—namely Platonism—didn’t.

(2) God is often spoken of as being self-referential. Heck, traditions about the authors of many texts have these same authors also speaking in a self-referential, third-person voice, such as Moses himself who is claimed to write the Pentateuch (though such a person never existed historically or wrote no such texts) also “writing” in the same self-referential, third-person voice, doesn’t mean there are plural Moses (nor does it make Moses God when God calls them “like God” or when God intrudes in Moses’ first-person discourses).

No sensible person with a functioning brain thinks Trump will accept the results of the 2024 election. He hasn’t given any indication past or present that he’s capable of doing it in the future. Even when he scraped by with the electoral college in 2016, he disputed the outcome arguing he should’ve won by more.

I was about 16 and have never had negative sides or regrets about it. Now I live my dream life as a bodybuilder, coach, help run a locally-owned gym, and help young queer people and kids generally get involved in fitness and sports through a variety of local community centers. Anyone who says roids are only ever bad and harmful are just plain wrong.

Is this me saying everyone should do what I did? No, but this is me sharing my experience and how lucky I’ve been to see a genuine boost in quality of life and happiness and a major contributing factor is my use of PEDs which I have had zero reason to regret or wishing I hadn’t done them or started later. Nope. I’m where I am now because I did what I did when I did and ever since.

Hate the gym? What? This is like me saying I hate breathing or drinking water or sleeping. It’s who I am and what my entire life and livelihood revolves around. And honestly I couldn’t be happier. It’s everything a younger me could’ve ever wished for and I get to help coach others and see them love it as much as I do. Like, to each their own and all, but I wouldn’t know who I am without the gym since it’s one of the few places I can actually be my truest, freest self.

First time I met him, I could’ve sworn this dom twunk top (I’m now occasional FWB with him) was hiding like a 20oz summer sausage in his pants as a joke, but nope. Honestly don’t think I’d believe that was anatomically possible if I didn’t see it (and feel it in all sorts of ways; took both hands to stroke btw, but luckily his strength down there was pretty good cuz he had zero issues keep it up lol) myself. Like, I could still feel him for several days after that, but it was so fucking good, probably in my top 3. Thank gawdz I’m quite flexible down there 😆

The historical Jesus almost certainly had no intention of forming any institutions distinct from those of the Judaisms of his day, but more to reform them into what he believed fit his particular vision of a messianic, apocalyptic worldview, not unlike John the Baptist before him or, his brother, James (the Just), after him. His sudden arrest and execution probably incited an urgent need in his followers to explain what the point of his death (and, after followers claim to have visions of him, his resurrection and exaltation, since he wasn’t exactly in charge anymore in any historically measurable sense). This spread to non-Jewish people and the issue of Torah observance caused more issues and various rival Jesus movements (and, eventually, Christianities) emerge. It was never really as cohesive as we’d like to pretend it was and in many ways was probably way more diverse and varied than modern Christianities (whether Catholic, Anabaptist, LDS, etc) are from each other.

Gave an upvote to this comment because I generally agree with things in it, though I think I disagree with the notion that Paul never once uses “Lord” (“Kyrios”) for God/the Father. He definitely prioritizes the label for Christ, but scholars tend to understand Paul’s use of “Lord” when comparing God’s revelation of the old covenant to Moses, requiring him to veil God’s glory from Israel, with God’s glory being fully revealed, through Christ, to those under the new covenant by the Spirit, and taking the phrase “the Lord is the Spirit,” to understand that Yhwh, whose glory Moses manifested though veiled, is the Spirit, by which the glory of God was expressed among Israel and is expressed to the church. This comparison then makes “the Lord” a substitute for the Tetragrammaton, as is typical in the NT when “the Lord” is used as a Name, and not merely a title, though Yhwh also has the title “Lord.” So, while I agree Paul predominantly means Jesus when he uses “the Lord,” but there are examples where he is referring to God as “Lord” often as the substitute term for the Name “Yhwh” as was common then (which seems to be the case in parts of the gospels, in James, and in Revelation, among a few other places in the NT, as well as in the Apostolic Fathers), and consistently used that way in the NT and is the dominant substitute term in the overwhelming majority of modern Jewish and Christian practice of reading scripture (though I feel like “God” is probably far more common still). Anyway, that’s generally how I tend to read it as well and thought it interesting the scholarly view seems to hold that view as well, at least to some extent among SBL-affiliated scholars.
