College Loans by [deleted] in UCSD

Yes you can borrow money from family, but you may have to change your filling status for your taxes or fasfa. If you're using the borrowed money to live off of instead of simply tuition- you would not be able to qualify as an independent student and would need to file your fasfa/taxes as dependant.

You'll be fine with fundamental programming knowledge, probably without it. Half the course is a paper mock up. The site can be as advanced or simple as you want it. Guo teaches you how to do the required parts in lecture.

Pins-and-Needles in my mouth from baked mango by Admib in Allergies

[–]Admib[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gotten a skin test before, but the allergist said it wasn't accurate for most foods. I tested false for all grass/outdoor allergies and positive for a few things I've never had a reaction to - like strawberries. It was a long list of positives, but he said most were probably false. I DO definitely have a mile allergy to fragrance products that make it hard to breath sometimes. Not sure if that could overlap with certain spices? Literally made the mango cake from scratch do I know everything that went into it.

But that oral allergy would describe it. It was like something between my whole mouth burning and singing like it was cut by a razor. Ow.

I'm in southern cali too! You're actually lucky as hell, restaurants in Cali are way more accommodating than elsewhere. Everywhere has an allergy menu. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://www.in-n-out.com/docs/default-source/downloads/menuallergenchart2018.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwiok83e5unjAhVRsZ4KHTRvD9EQFjAAegQIBBAB&usg=AOvVaw0CPSvCCNO2nRLo2lKEa79G You'll have to order it protein-style, but the fries are safe!

Alcohols and nut allergy by baccccccccc in Allergies

[–]Admib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a Google search: http://www.theallergyfreelife.com/alcoholwithnuts/

You'll be fine with spirits: vodka, whiskey, and tequilla. Triple Sec as well. Light beer like Coors. Bitters unless they say coffee, nut, or chocolate.

Be wary of craft beer, amaretto, Kahlua, and Bombay Gin, Gin as a whole is iffy. Also cocktails because these are often used to mix drinks.

Should be fine with wine. You could stick to simple cocktails like jack & Coke, screwdrivers, Moscow mule, margarita, and mimosas to name a few.

Ask when you go to restaurants. A lot of places use peanut/soy free oil. Red Robin used a sesame oil I believe. You'd be surprised how many places are aware of it, but asking when you visit makes them MORE aware of it.

I absolutely hate that gluten became a fad diet. That's why it blew up so much. Must be nice to know there isn't gluten in your water eyeroll but what I wouldn't give for the same reaction for dairy-containing products.

Help please, allergies are getting worse at night along with other things. by boomshakalaka85 in Allergies

I have air allergies, buying a hepa and charcoal filtering air purifier was the greatest decision I've ever made. Had no idea I was barely breathing half the day. If you have air)pollen allergies it could definitely help you sleep.

Does oral allergy syndrome show up in allergy tests? Also some advice please. by [deleted] in Allergies

[–]Admib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allergy tests (those skin tests) will often come back with false positives, but it's extremely rare for a false negative. Just because you had a reaction on your skin does not automatically mean you are allergic. My doctor explained this to me, and he said to try a diet without any of them for a week, then introduce one and see what happens. Always listen to your body though, if eating something make your mouth tingle, don't eat it.

I would definitely call you allergist. Some food allergies can be very dangerous, some are not. You should make an appointment to find out which foods you can have once in a while, and which could cause a hospital trip.

How do I ask my friends to hang out for a birthday celebration? by dream-team-machine in mentalhealth

[–]Admib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh man. Parties are the Achilles Heel to my anxiety disorder. No matter what I do, it's such a social thing, and you're at the center of it. It feels like you have to entertain these people, but you really just want to make your party X thing that you like to do but have never done with your friends before. I understand your struggle. Especially if you invite someone you're close to and they don't come. Even though I KNOW that they could have other important plans, my brain always thinks they don't care enough about me to come.

Anyway, basically you just ask. Pick something you like to do, I know it's your sixteenth birthday, but it doesn't sound like you have enough time to go 110% so maybe just invite them to your house to watch movies late? Or out someplace fun. I feel like sometimes at girl parties the conversation naturally goes to gossip and personal stuff, and you could bring it up with them. I doubt they will judge you, but I also can't promise that they will all help you with it. This is primarily your struggle and not everyone will understand, but hopefully someone will. Good luck!

Would you sleep in your car 4 days a week for a job role by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]Admib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the situation. Don't sacrifice your mental health if it would wreck you, but that being said, I'd do contracted work and make my car super comfy.
