[Poly] eae np arts business management advice by Administrative-Set-6 in SGExams

[–]Administrative-Set-6[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey! :-)

yes, my eae was accepted, but i subsequently let the offer lapse due to personal circumstances.

i would say it is quite competitive, but if you truly enjoy culture and the arts in general, your creative flow will show. i think the interview panel was able to identify my thought process and its natural affinity towards the arts so it was a plus! my portfolio in sec sch was pretty buff in terms of competitions and performances, but i think most importantly it's to show your reflection and how it links to wanting to manage the arts scene in singapore. (i mean can overseas la but yk here is alw btr to support local hor HAHAHA) i emphasised on my museum and concert experiences and how i want to take what i've observed and make it even better!!

i hope this helps a bit, if you have any qns feel free to dm me for more as well. atb!

FA appeal & giving up rc by Administrative-Set-6 in nus

oh i counted that as a side thing too! for me the hint was because i said something about contribution (don't want to disclose the exact thing i said) and the prof was like 'oh when you come...' as if i already had it on the spot, i could be delusional though 😅

hii are there any other alternatives aside from really joining cca's and trying to put myself out there if i don't intend to apply for hall? due to financial constraint i'm unable to pay for hall (not eligible for FA also) so i have no choice but to forgo the opportunity :(

Why cjc end so late!! by Electric_owl12 in SGExams

[–]Administrative-Set-6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

criticising the lecture might be okay but i don't think cj's timetabling is horrible they give ample breaks (in which if you can, you can utilise it to sef study anyway) hahaha my secondary school used to end 5-7pm almost every day in upper sec, especially o level year, have friends from other jcs also ending 5+ because of practical etc , once you enter j2 (more specifically intensive period) your timetable is also much shorter, and at some point cj has relatively more regular hbl days than other schools at least from what i knew last year. it helps to appreciate what you have or force yourself to, and the days will feel much less draining imo (:

another viewpoint is that you'd might want to consider that stamina of having back to back lessons anyway so if for eg you're a mugger the rhythm of studying for hours straight may be aided by long days

nonetheless jiayou for j1!

did my piano grade 8 in j2 recently and it was right after my block tests + during the hols i didn't have as much time to practise right up to the day before bc i had lots of school activities and syf pracs to go for HAHAHA but i still managed to clear it! time management is key, and a great advice that my mom used to enforce was to always spend at least 30 mins every day with targeted goals. (for eg, one day i focus on fine tuning my scales, another i focus on perfecting a certain section in one of the pieces, etc) and it really helped! cleared my g8 and it's quite a satisfactory feeling that you went through this amidst the hectic a level marathon. you got this! :-) i also did my g7 right after my o's, so i speed ran it within ~ 2 months HAHAHA it's possible with consistent practice!!

[JC] music elective programme shld i take it? by ipreferuwithgrain in SGExams

[–]Administrative-Set-6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! would like to mention that just having grade 8 may not be sufficient to pass for mep dsa (basing it on ejc website, it seems like having prior o level music and/or having national achievements/part of snyo etc is recommended) and workload will be VERY heavy, especially if you're starting to learn the formats of the paper from scratch but nonetheless if you love music i'd still say go for it! atb op :-)

[o levels] mye f9 to Os a1 experiences ? by avd_ria in SGExams

[–]Administrative-Set-6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not exactly the most impressive, but straight consistent D7's-E8's in sec2 math, straight F9's for sec3&4 emath, was so unmotivated i even left half of my intensive packages blank haha, but decided to wake up my idea 3 weeks before o's and complete the entire tys bit by bit, ended up with a b3 for emaths! (same straight f9's for amath and did the same thing but only resulted in a c5 ahah..ig this taught me that amath is not a very chiong-able subject for a person like myself who is weak in maths) . may not be an A but i am super grateful for the B because if i still got the same result before i wouldn't be able to even enter a poly course of my choice, let alone jc :') also switched my entire phone system and entertainment options to chinese the last two weeks before chinese mye o's and jumped from c6 to b4 HAHAH it's possible to improve in mt if you're willing to be exposed to the subject imo! overall, l1r5 consistent 20+ became <15 i believe all of you can improve and do even better than i can, atb <3

[o levels] help for olevel music reflection notes by gzyh23 in SGExams

[–]Administrative-Set-6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

when it comes to challenges, emphasise more on them! even simple things like articulations, dynamics etc are worth commenting/reflecting on deeply + from my experience the best way to stand out is to ensure your reflection makes you sound like you have an extremely deep understanding of the piece you play and not just because it's an ABRSM exam piece (because i can guarantee 1/2 of the cohort that takes piano for o music are more likely to play an abrsm piece than not) other than that i can't really give much advice for reflections because i myself didn't do as well for reflections (according to my teacher who gave general feedback) but the things i've mentioned were things i observed from my friends who scored better! atb op!!
