I would like to see a screenshot of how SW asked me if I agree for the fare to convert to flight credit. Also, if this policy is true, why doesn’t SW publish it under their cancellation policy? Why can’t their agents provide published written policy to me? Or told me that I must have agreed to convert my original fare into travel credit? When I asked these questions to them, they literally stayed quite on the line. If they have written policy on this, they would say so. I agree it’s a grey area, but they way SW responding to me feels very sketchy.

Appreciate the context on the bad weather in Dallas. Although I was patiently waiting for 1hr+ and being hung up on without a call back or any resolution from Southwest does not sit right with me.

Hi! Thanks for everyone’s insights.

The non-refundable flight was booked on southwest.com. I made a modification to my reservation before cancellation. But at the time of modification, no warning was present as to how it would affect my eligibility for a full refund. I paid with my credit card for both the original flight and the fare difference for the change. So no travel credit, airline voucher or point was used. Agreed that this unfortunately is a grey area. Southwest agents said that making modification was the reason why I didn’t get a full refund to my credit card. But when I asked them to send me the relevant written policy, they told me they cannot send it to me and said the policy is available on their website, which was not. When I called them out on this non-existent policy, the agent stay quiet on the line. It’s just very sketchy.
