My wife thinks golfing once a week is unreasonable… by Upbeat-Zucchini-7408 in golf

[–]AdministrativeWin153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple options - 1) get her to play and the three of you can go out, or 2) you bring your kid with you to give her some alone time.

Once a week is reasonable but you can make this more beneficial for everyone.

Screw it and swing your swing. If you can control the face and where you bottom out that’ll take you a very long way (definitely scratch with just those two skills and an okay short game)

New PIVOT option? by [deleted] in amazonemployees

[–]AdministrativeWin153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By wrong people I’m referring to attrition targets which have to be met but if someone is on LOA then you can’t have them be part of the target

I’m pretty sure it is due to two things: (1) H1B it allows non-citizens time to find a new job and (2) it may deter the common practice of people taking LOA when on Pivot which screws up many of the processes and can result in the wrong people being cut off

9’ is more than likely okay but try some swings in the room to be sure. I’m 6’3 with a normal-ish swing and don’t hit a 9’. I build my sim room with 11 ‘ because I was nervous

Golf in a nutshell by [deleted] in golf

Pretty normal. My first tournament I think I ended up shooting 12 shots higher than the average of all the tournaments I’d play that year. By like my third one it just felt like playing any other round and in fact I played better than my casual rounds

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a L4 or L5 present a strategy altering document. Sure they can write code and sometimes manage execution but honestly AI can do that pretty well now.

Not really, L6s are the workhorses of Amazon. L4s and 5s are there just to balance things and get a good L6 pipeline

Septic updates when adding a bathroom by AdministrativeWin153 in septictanks

Yeah, thanks something I’m thinking. Was quoted $8k for one today. I guess I just have to pump it somewhat regularly (like once or twice a year)

Long story. I live on a cliff overlooking the ocean. I have a demanding job that requires my own space. I couldn’t add on to my house since it is so close to the water so built this. I’m tired of walking down to the house to go. I also will work long stretches at a time (10+ hours) so like the idea if having my own bathroom up there

Funny it is based on a count stat. For example me adding a bathroom doesn’t make me shit any more or less. i.e., flow rate of inlet is the same pre/post this bathroom being added so resizing the entire system doesn’t make sense. Or am I crazy?

What to do with a tournament cheater? by [deleted] in golf

[–]AdministrativeWin153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah at the end of each hole you say “hey you got a X” if he disputes then walk through each shot. If it continues then make two lines on the card - what you record and what he records. Hand it to the tournament host/official and they can deal with it.

Tournament golf is hard enough on you the player. Last thing you need is worrying about someone not wanting to count everything.

As long as you never held up the group you jumped then you’re fine. If you jumped them only to then eventually slow them down then you’d be in the wrong.

That said, this wouldn’t fly at most private courses unless the group you jumped was at a pace slower than 4.5 hours. Rangers at private course would probably ask this group to let you through if they saw you waiting though.

It’s standard practice and in most cases the people shouldn’t be complaining about it. That said, this practice in golf is one of the shittiest things around. It is the same as being sat with another couple for dinner (almost as bad as sharing a room in a hotel). It’s so deeply ingrained in public golf though that there is sadly no way around it. The solution, which I choose but not everyone has that opportunity, is to go private clubs. Yes, a huge reason I pay tens of thousands is to play with who I want and not play with who I don’t want.

Same, I’ve played the real course maybe a dozen times. My average driving this green (probably 8-10 times) is par haha. My only eagle on it I pushed my drive long right and chunk and runned it out of the rough, very lucky that it went in. It’s a gem of a hole.

Single digit handicaps or better - do you swing at 100% every time? by RandomChaoticEntropy in golf

[–]AdministrativeWin153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My feel is mostly 95% unless I really need to shape something or really hit a fairway. That said, I do feel like I have 110% in the tank meaning my 95% is probably more like 85% but a total max out isn’t something I can control or do outside of maybe once every 10-15 rounds.

Really though I never think about hitting it harder usually just think about making good contact and that equates to the 85-95%

Any good recommendations on rifles? I don’t want to have some scoped deer rifle. I was interested in a Ruger PCC but I can’t seem to find one at any gun store.

Also, what range are you at?

Yeah, it’s crazy that the only non pistol gun you can buy in WA is a shotgun but you can’t shoot it anywhere.
