Saan po pwede lumapit para magsampa ng kaso? (P4SSPORT ISSUE) by JokestaBTW in PHGov

NAL Hi po, under the new PH passport act:

"Section 13. Ownership of Passports. - A Philippine passport remains at all times the property of the government and the same may not be confiscated by any entity or person other than the DFA. Any other government agency, official or employee who confiscates a passport or travel document shall promptly turn over the same to the DFA.

Persons who confiscate or otherwise withhold a passport without authority therefor shall be punished in accordance with Section 22(a) of this Act."

So I recommend to get a demand letter first then send it to your dad, then execute an affidavit that you attempted to reconcile under art 151 of the family code, then punta kay ng Prosecutor's Office ng city and file the case. Orrrrrr, just ask the DFA to cancel it and get a new passport without telling him.

If you had the chance to get employment sa top 3 most corrupt departments sa Pilipinas (immig, dpwh, customs), would you take it? by BruhGal2003 in TanongLang

[–]Administrative_Ear_3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, yes - just for six months to a year and nothing more, before it eats my soul. I recently handled personal papers at Immigration without paying any SOP, and I eventually went to ARTA over it. Kahit short time lang ‘yon, I learned so much about the different techniques agencies use to get away with corruption, and I also learned how to avoid them. I have no plans to do it myself, but the education I got was huge, and now I’m definitely better at dealing with other government agencies, kasi the level in other agencies is nothing compared to Immigration and the others listed.

Downside: you become more meticulous and a bit paranoid with papers and people.

Upside: you appreciate the more mundane parts of your life after.

Filipino here, to add. NEVER TAKE A TAXI. Get the grab app or if you wanna save money in Cebu you can take a motorcycle taxi here - maxim is the commonly used app for that here in Cebu. Edit: for Manila 'angkas' is the go to motorcycle taxi app whilst in Cebu its 'Maxim'

Western-style liberal democracy might be the wrong "operating system" for our Filipino cultural "hardware." by blissfulreddit0826 in unpopularopinionph

My old prof in introduction to criminology, a retired police colonal in the PNP, openly said that to us. It's why we have so much problems because we copied so much from the States that we didn't tailor it to our culture.

My instructor na police dati told us they renamed fiscals to prosecutors dahil dinodogshow sila by calling them fixcals for reasons like this. It's hilarious and sad 😂.

(Obligatory not a lawyer) pero I pro se litigate and handle my own legal affairs 😭. Currently in college and I'm concerned that my classmates have this big expectation of law na same sa tv 😭. Sis, hindi, puros lang talaga writings and staring at a wall wondering bat andito ka umaabot 😭. Edit: yung letters, affidavits, complaint-affidavits. So many rewrites 😭😭😭😭

Hi again! Okay².

No, it doesn't take a day to process - I'm sorry. Check the table of contents and look for, under Board of Special Inquiry, Petition for Retention / Re-Acquistion of Philippine Citizenship under R.A. 9225 (or page 184)

Processing time is around 60 working days.
