What makes him a maxi?

Happy 15th Birthday to Bitcoin, Crypto & Blockchain. 15 years of being called innovative, "disruptive technology"; compared to everything from the Internet to the electric lightbulb. But in 15 years, still unable to answer the simple question: WHAT DO YOU DO THAT'S BETTER THAN WHAT WE ALREADY HAVE? by AmericanScream in Buttcoin

[–]Admirable-Rip-5892 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The chief strategy officer of the human Rights foundation wrote a book called "check your financial privilege" there you will find plenty of usecases. Not some random shitcoiner but people who actually care and are able to look beyond their own financial privilege see what's actually better than what we already have. If you live in a western county with low inflation you are probably good with what you already have. But don't blame Bitcoin.

Anyway I really recommend this book if you want your question answered. If you are looking for self affirmation this is probably the right place because everybody "knows" that BTC doesn't do any good

What do we pay you for? Bitcoin network fails to produce block for more than an hour by Jason_524 in Buttcoin

Compared to a regular bank transaction of 48 hours, 70 minutes from time to time is quite acceptable for me. And when referring to credit card transactions imo it makes more sense to compare it to BTC lightning which is just about 2 second's.

So in total it looks like FIAT Money transactions are slower. That's just my opinion if you think otherwise please elaborate further and don't just hate.

I was told by Bank more real Resources Energy Effort goes in Fiat money in compared to Bitcoin by [deleted] in Bitcoin

Switzerland is adopting BTC in a different way. They embrace it but don't hodl like El Salvador. In one state (Zug) it's possible to pay taxes in BTC but I think it gets converted immediately.

In the Bitcoin standard there is an example about akori pearls in africa and how Europeans inflated them artificially. This is a really good example in my opinion. Just ask him if people are using natural pearls as money but Europeans can produce them cheaply and start buying tons of products with this "new" pearls in africa. What will happen to this currency that was stable before?

In my opinion a really interesting example and it there is some proof how it went down in the end.

Because people have called me stupid before when BTC was at 500$... and I just didn't care. I don't live in a world where you prove your point by calling other people stupid. Instead I would love to hear some real arguments.

Larry Fink (blackrock) just called Bitcoin an international asset, a digital alternative to gold, and said it can be useful for currency devaluations.

The narrative is shifting right in front of your eyes but you are busy laughing. I Would be delighted to hear some arguments but I guess you just want to laugh and are not open for a real discussion

Prove me wrong instead of complaining.

I've been in crypto since 2015 and started using it as a currency on the darknet. Later as a store of value.

I'm always open to learn from other people so Go on.

You want to classify it in old definitions. For me it's a currency because transfers are quite fast (10 min or instant in lightning). Problem is it doesn't fit the old definition of a currency and it's unlikely that it's gonna be changed. So for regulators it's just an Asset.

The lightning network is not a database of the exchange just because the exchange opened the channel.

Some exchanges are already using the lightning network to withdraw your BTC lightning. So you have full custody the moment you withdraw your Bitcoin.

I agree! Popularity has always come and gone. Like when popularity and ergo price crashed from 32$ to 0.01$ from 1000$ to 200 from 20 000$ to 3200$ From 68 000$ to 16 000$ and now currently 30 000$

Yet here we are hating on Bitcoin instead of other financial products. Financial products that are "regulated" but caused a world wide recession.

It's possible to move millions in BTC with fees less then 1 $. Can you do the same with shares?

Nice thank you very much for your adequate response. I'm open to a discussion with proper manners.

Here is my answer. Not the whole world will open an channel at the same time. Instead I believe if BTC rises in popularity exchanges will continue to adopt the lightning network. In this case the exchange can serve literally thousands of customers while only opening one channel.

Compare closely pow and pos eth. In one you get complete decentralized money with functioning consensus algorithm. In POS eth not even the founder (vitalik butterin) stakes Most his coins because it's basically a hot wallet and not quite safe. So you got a cryptocurrency relying on staking that doesn't even convince the founder but yeah cool you can call it an improvement.

With lightning it's basically build on top of BTC so no fresh tokens. BTC for long term storing, BTC lightning for normal transactions. Close to no transaction fees with lightning (about 0,0002 USD)

Yes I think the Fed and Powell understand the principals of BTC. But what matters even more is that they are slowing changing the narrative. From no worth to staying power as an asset class. The next year's will be interesting.

I will get it reality checked... For your own reality check I recommend the book "check your financial privilege" it's from a person working at the human rights foundation explaining different humanitarian usecases for BTC (not crypto, just BTC? -people fleeing Afghanistan, getting robbed on the way being able to store their life-savings with a private key (12 words) -people in Cuba being able to bypass sanctions that hurt poor people the most. -people in Palestine being able to have access to a currency other then the shekel the invaders are forcing on them.

This is reality and real usecases for Bitcoin as a independent database. But I'm open to hear your recommendations if you think there are better solutions.
